Is this benefitting her or women in general? I’m really unimpressed

nb: this post is about Emily atack and her latest extremely sexual photos in the press

Why why why!!!!! She’s already successful, lots of money, seemingly intelligent and has a child and partner. Why why why do women keep wanting to come across as sex dolls? I really don’t understand especially as she has spoken about her experience of sexual assault before. Do so many women feel like the most important thing to them in life is still being classed as a ‘wanted, needed by men, sexual being’ above everything else? This can’t be for money purposes.

Absolutely not the case. I just wouldn’t want my own daughter growing up seeing women like her in the spotlight clearly selling herself via sex and normalising this behaviour. Surely there’s more to life? Come on women, move past the obsession of sex, regardless of it it’s for yourself, other women or men.

This still makes no sense - I walk into our local Next store which has a Victorias Secret section and there's posters everywhere of women wearing the underwear being sold, also mannequins too - will you ensure your DD avoids the more sexy looking posters there, or blindfold her as you walk past Boux Avenue and Anne Summers in the shopping centers?

Have you seen the cost of AP underwear? Temporary tat it is not!
I’m a honey birdette fan myself as the selection is better but again, far too costly to be described as ‘temporary tat’.

And what does practical, sensible underwear have to do with it? Isn’t there a place for both practical and fancy?

You must only wear boring, dull, teeshirt bras and "big knickers" otherwise you're obviously a cheap whore....

Because apparently we have the moral outrage of the past

Yeah I re read the OP a few times to see if I was missing something and was quoting EA herself - but that doesnt seem to be the case, so I work out what the correlation is in relation to EA doing a random photoshoot vs somehow "benefitting all women" in the first place.

Does anybodys work, regardless of the type, benefit "all women"? I work in the public sector in a role that is improvement focussed but still wouldn't make that claim so can't imagine why an actress doing a photoshoot should be assumed to have done that.

Basically, no idea what OP is on about!

I was also wondering what on earth the OP title was alluding to. I very much doubt that EA has claimed that this photo shoot was intended to benefit all women, which makes the OP's hot take very weird indeed! However, since it is obviously just another transparently obvious attempt to indulge in some old-fashioned misogyny dressed up as faux concern for women, I guess I shouldn't bother looking for any sense from the OP!

FlowerFairyDaisy · 03/02/2026 15:48

What is wrong with people on here recently, criticising other women for what they wear? First the Good Morning TV presenters and now lovely Emily Atack. Live and let live, for goodness sake!

'Do so many women feel like the most important thing to them in life is still being classed as a ‘wanted, needed by men, sexual being’ above everything else? '

You cannot know that is the most important thing to Emily Atack (she probably took the job because it paid well). And you cannot know if it is the most important thing to 'many women', either. And if being classed as wanted by men and being a sexual being IS the most important thing to some women - so what?

The world would be so incredibly boring it we were all walking around wearing boring long grey dresses every day.

It's cheap bit I particularly object to!! My collection of fancy underwear has cost me hundreds!! lol

Jumpingthruhoops · 03/02/2026 15:49
  1. It's an ad campaign
  2. EA is proud of her body and rightly so. She looks fabulous and, on that;
  3. EA can wear exactly what she wants
  4. For linking any kind of attire with sexual assault, I give you one of these 🍩

Now best you unclutch those pearls! 😏

StrawberryJamAndRaspberryPie · 03/02/2026 15:50

Of course it’s for money. She clearly decided it was worth what they were paying.

Disturbia81 · 03/02/2026 15:52

What bothers me is that why don’t we see young men shown like this as frequently? What’s good for the goose etc.

TreeDudette · 03/02/2026 15:54

As a model it's her job to wear clothes and be photographed. Posing for advertising photos in lingerie or swimwear should not be aligned with her past history of sexual assault. Give your head a wobble.

Blokes don't spend as much on underwear. Best to advertise to your biggest and most profitable market.

Also some men will buy underwear for their partners so these adverts have a wide target audience

She has always been like this - posts certain thing publicly then complains about it . Yes I agree women can get vulgar comments despite how they are dressed but it seems to be a pattern for her. Waaah they're commenting on my tits.

So you think she deserves to be sent wanking videos and harassed because she models underwear?

Yeah and it’s shit. If women are gonna be objectified then men should be equally.

I think the poster meant temporary as in not meant to be worn for long before your man gets it off you. Doesn't look comfortable enough to be worn to work or walk the dog in.

I guess that's the question, is advertising underwear like this objectification? I can see why some people would consider it so, and others not.

I didn't say she deserves it but if she were not doing it then there would certainly be a lower chance of it. She's made her choice.

There are a fair few

But you're less likely to be targeted for those

Victim blame much? The only people who are to blame are the wankers sending her this shit.

If that’s the case then they’ll be surprised to hear that not everyone is buying underwear to be immediately removed by a man.

I buy my fancy underwear to make myself feel good and to be appreciated by other women.

"She's made her choice"

You mean the men, who are committing the crimes against her are making their choices, and you're victim blaming.
