Went to food hall last week, had an offer on my sparks card for spend £60 and get a £6 voucher. I bought some extra staples that I wasn’t planning on buying and spent the amount but when I got home and checked , the offer was still showing as activated but at £0 spend. It was activated before I checked out at the store, I did that before I started shopping. I emailed to ask if they could have a look at why the offer didn’t go through and they have basically replied saying that they don’t believe me !

“Thanks for getting in touch, and I’m sorry for the frustration I completely understand why this feels disappointing, especially after spending over £60 and expecting the offer to track automatically.

I’ve had a look into this from our side, and it appears that the email address linked to your Sparks account is currently closed, which means we’re unable to see any activity or confirm whether the £6 offer was successfully activated before you checked out. Without the account being active, the system can’t record or validate the spend.

If you’re able to send proof of the offer being activated for example, a screenshot from before you checked out, we’ll be happy to review it and put things right for you.”

why on earth would I have a screen shot !
genuinely would think that if this happened to someone and they had bothered to email customer services about it, you would give them the bloody voucher!

Well it sounds like your Sparks account wasn't activated due to an issue with the email not being active. That's completely down to you, not M&S.

Why should they give you money when you hadn't set your account up properly?

Anyone could phone them up and claim there had been a problem and they wanted a voucher. They're a business, not a charity.

It's not poor customer service to expect customers to comply with terms and conditions.

But I do have an email account linked to it, they send me emails with it ! I only have. One email, I used that to set the account up and it’s still valid.

I'm going to find out today. I bought an Autograph necklace for £25 a couple of weeks ago. Worn it 3 times and I noticed today that it's completely tarnished, all the gold plating has come off - it's never been in the shower or gotten wet.

I don't have the receipt, so I'm taking it back as a faulty item...let's see how their customer service reacts!

I’m sure we’ll all be here on the edge of our seats.
