To think that if a man asks out a female friend it doesn't necessarily mean he was only interested in being friends for that reason (though it might well do)?

I sometimes think people on here are a bit too suspicious. Obviously situations like a male friend asking out a woman recovering from a breakup are deeply unpleasant.

But I don't think a male friend asking a female friend out automatically means that he was only being friendly in hopes of dating her. Imo the real test would be if the male friend continued being friendly without an romantic pressure after being rejected (assuming she was happy to still be friends)

Am I BU to think this? I know it IS often the case that the man's only interested in friendship as a dating gateway

I started this because of several threads I've read over last few months where a lot of people seem to think that men asking out a female friend is ALWAYS a sign they are just interested in women for sex. It can be but I think that's overgeneralising.
