Dumped by nail tech!

I’m really struggling to see what I have done wrong. I use to go to a nail tech, she worked in a salon, different techs there but I usually went to her as she was very good. I always turned up on time to appointments, never complained, don’t smell, don’t over share/talk to much, just general conversation, never demanding would usually just go for a pink gel & a glitter, would always tip & rebook. She did like to change appointment times sometimes at the last minute, asking me to come in earlier or later which was annoying but usually I managed to get there, a couple of times she completely cancelled on the day or day before saying she was unwell, again was polite said no problem. She moved salons & although it was a longer drive I decided to go to her, booked appt through an app & you had to pay a deposit, no problem, appointment came & and she cancelled on the day. Text me to apologise, I was polite & said no problem, will rebook. She said I would have to pay another deposit if I book through the app so best she rebooks me in which she was going to do. Never heard back from her, never had deposit back, just feels as if I have been dumped & the changing of appointments & cancellations was to get rid of me?!

The obvious question here is have you contacted her to remind her? Perhaps she forgot?

ItIsNotTheDog · 02/02/2026 05:09

She just seems a bit disorganised.
You are making to much of this.

Itwasallyellow2 · 02/02/2026 05:10

She will be waiting for you to contact her with suitable dates. Nothing you have said in your post indicates to me she has dumped you.

I wonder why you have assumed this? Has it happened before? Do you usually assume that people don’t like you? Contact her with some dates you can do and see if you get a response.

confused891 · 02/02/2026 05:10

From reading this I would get a new one anyway. She seems unreliable xx

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 02/02/2026 05:10

Never put down to malice that which can be explained by incompetence!

StartingOverInMy40s · 02/02/2026 06:05

Ah it might be a good thing - there’s much more reliable people out there x x

xyzandabc · 02/02/2026 06:55

Did you let her know what days/time would be suitable for you?
If you did and you've not heard back, that's not good from her
If you didn't, then I think she's probably waiting to hear from you that you want to take up her offer to rebook

TappyGilmore · 02/02/2026 06:57

Well I would call that scamming rather than dumping! You’ve paid a deposit but she cancelled?!

Exactly what I was going to say.

Moulez · 02/02/2026 06:59

Why are you all ending posts with kisses?

Newbuildtooldbuild · 02/02/2026 07:05

She hasn’t dumped you. Stress 100% forgotten to rebook you in.

As a small business owner, it would be my worst nightmare if I did this by mistake and a client thought I was ghosting her 😢

Brightbluesomething · 02/02/2026 08:38

My nail tech did this for my Christmas nails appt for unavoidable reasons. Obviously it’s one of the busiest times of the year so a full day of clients to reschedule was a lot. As she’s one of my closest friends she said let me know when you’re free and I can book you in outside of working hours if needed. Which I did. Until you tell her your availability there’s nothing she can do.
Stop assuming the worst and tell her when you’re free to rebook. She’s not a mind reader.
