Not move job yet

Current job was a mess with lots of leavers and management deciding not to replace them because our industry is shrinking (although not immediately!), so I decided to start job hunting.
Found a good alternative ie firm seems to have a better plan of how to expand what it offers, better technology etc.

BUT we are ttc and current firm offers 9 months full pay whereas alternative offers statutory mat pay only.

No idea if we will succeed in our tries. Would I be unreasonable to move company (and throw 9 months pay away if we are successful?)

Or should I stick it out for the next few years, get that mat leave (hopefully) / decide to stop trying (if it takes too long) and then move?

Is the 9 months’ pay dependent on you returning afterwards?
