Split from my partner today, aibu not letting him back in the house

I have wrote a few posts on here the past couple of weeks regarding my relationship so won’t go into the full detail but I have finally left him and now he’s is being really cruel to me.

Not only have I been unhappy in my relationship but also my mum is currently in hospital for the foreseeable as she has been going through cancer treatment and other health issues and we’re not really sure what’s going on, my head has been absolutely all over the place.

My partner has gone out to the pub and is texting me and trying to call me arguing with me, calling me names, I’m a ‘rat’ apparently, he’s being really really nasty. I’ve told him I don’t want him to come back tonight because I’m really upset about my mum and can’t deal with arguing but he’s saying I will have to call the police if I want him out. Am I being unreasonable locking the door and making him find somewhere else to stay?

Instead of replying to all the idiots OP, why not update the majority of posters who were helpful etc?

That's too much like common sense, it would seem.

Have you got rid of him? Was he arrested ? Flowers

Bonkers1966 · 31/01/2026 15:39

This may have legal implications. If he owns half the house the police will not be especially sympathetic.

He doesn't own any of OPs house.

PPs are warning others that you have form for not engaging with your own thread - which is fair warning really as some people might feel shortchanged if they take the effort to offer advice but then don’t hear anything further from the OP

SunMoonandChocolate · 31/01/2026 16:20

Glad to hear you're safe OP. Did the police come out last night, or did he just get fed up and go away?

How are you feeling today, better I hope?

Just heads up, i doubt OP will return to this thread. They have a habit of staring threads and only returning for a single follow up each time.

She might be dealing with the police?
Oops sorry officer I need to update mumsnet about the dangerous situation Im currently in

They can find the time to reply to the comments they don’t like though. Funny, that.

OP made the first post at 22.32. Last night
Updated at 23.07 last night
Then came back at 13.37 today.
So Im kind of guessing that OP had quite a lot going on in the ensuing hours, and could probably do without snarky bitches declaring her a troll 😡

ChocolateCinderToffee · 31/01/2026 20:26

So glad to know you're safe, OP. Let us know how you get on, if you can.

Daisychain67 · 31/01/2026 23:13

Thank you everybody, I’d reply to individual comments but there’s too many, I really appreciate everyone’s kindness and support it’s made me feel better, and me and my daughter are safe and everything is as okay as can be.

I’m deleting my account because this isn’t the first post that I’ve received people being arsey and it actually makes me feel worse so if this stays up and people still comment I’m not being rude.

I haven’t been able to be on my phone much today as my daughter had a gymnastics competition this morning all thru to the afternoon and then went shopping afterwards and have been tidying the house as I’ve got work for the next 4 days and won’t get a real chance and of course taking care of my daughter. I’m not rude like some people like to say I just have a busy life aside from my problems and unfortunately don’t prioritise Mumsnet over that.

Again thank you to the people who have actually shown me support it is really appreciated x
