Food poisoning from ready meal rice

I’m probably being ridiculous but I’m panicking I’m going to get food poisoning I just ate a ready meal, in date cooked for the recommended time but the rice didn’t seem that hot. Now I’m spiralling thinking I’m going to be ill.

Ive only recently gotten over a sickness bug which is probably exacerbating the situation

I think you'll probably be fine. My sympathies though - if I think I've eaten something dodgy I always talk myself into feeling queasy. And the memories of sickness bugs past do linger. Have a nice glass of water, watch something dumb on TV to distract yourself and I'm fairly sure you'll be fine in the morning.

Edited for fat fingers

Although it’s important to heat and cool rice rapidly and thoroughly, I suspect that the rice in a ready meal will be so full of preservatives that you will be fine.

Also, you will have eaten a relatively small portion, and most food poisoning in rice occurs in large catering portions in restaurants where large pans of rice have been allowed to sit, neither properly hot or properly cold, or a large portion has taken ages to cool down, allowing spores to develop.

Why not have a small glass of wine op and take your mind off it?

You'll probably be ok, conditions for ready meals are so stringent I wouldn't worry.

However, if you are regularly anxious get yourself a food probe thermometer and check your food

With rice it's not the reheating that causes food poisoning, it's how it was stored before it was reheated.

Have a little gin martini to kill off anything rogue OP.
It's Friday night, sleep well and enjoy your weekend 🙂

You wont get sick; I leave rice out on the side overnight and eat it without qualms all. The. Time. It's full of preservatives, you've nuked it, you'll be grand.
