Laser hair removal vagina no gloves

Catladywithoutacat · 30/01/2026 12:31

I have gone to a new salon and never had laser hair removal, I booked for Hollywood she never used any gloves
Is this normal? There also doesn’t seem
to be any sink inside the room although she could have washed her hands after leaving the room.

OP posts:

You don’t have hair in your vagina.

Beekman · 30/01/2026 16:35

In your actual vag?

Are you sure gloves weren’t used?

BetUWanna · 30/01/2026 16:36

OP people will correct you on the correct terminology. Your vagina is your hole / vaginal canal. You are meaning your vulva.

I knew what you meant and so did all the others. They're just being difficult.

id bring it up to the staff at the salon and see if its normal practice.

JudeGarret · 30/01/2026 16:39

As a beautician this is not ok, we do not do any form of hair removal without gloves. The mind boggles and I would be concerned as to what other standards are like.

Overtheatlantic · 30/01/2026 16:41

Not being difficult at all. Women and girls need to be able to correctly identify and name their body parts. It’s imperative for our safety. What we don’t need is to jump on the Kardashian bandwagon of calling your vulva a vagina.

BreakingBroken · 30/01/2026 16:44

Laser or wax?

Wizardonabroom · 30/01/2026 16:44

My 4yr old has known its a vulva so an adult should know the name of their body part. Someone gently correcting it on here is fair, in my opinion.

If you weren't comfortable without gloves then it would have been best to speak up in the moment. I've not had laser hair removal so can't comment if it was normal or not.

NotAnotherScarf · 30/01/2026 17:06

Sorry but you let another woman touch your "privates" without gloves? Why didn't you ask why?

Mindbogglingx · 30/01/2026 17:25

I knew what you meant op, but this is MN everyone is prim and proper.
And tbh love to pick.
I call mine a noonoo and i dont give a fuck.
Everytime i read the word vulva i think of a volvo car.

Yeah what prudes! Totally normal that adult women can’t name basic body parts that they touch every day. Nothing whatsoever to do with misogyny.

Salvadoridory · 30/01/2026 17:33

I wouldnt be happy, its pretty intimate. But this lot will be obsessed with telling you about how you will be riddled with infections and have a paedo husband so good luck. They have a strange obsession with this along with the age it is ok to pierce ears. And they are so easy to anger, like a hive of angry little bees around a marmalade sandwich.

SheSpeaks · 30/01/2026 17:34

The title reads like something a dodgy man would type into a porn site search bar.

Not feeding it.

Fgs we know what part is what and what it is called.

Some just read way to much into a comment, some will pick one word from a post just to pick at the op.

ohyesido · 30/01/2026 17:53

She probably isn’t required to wear gloves because the procedure is external. Very unlikely that any fluids would be transferred at any point?

ignore the petty PPs quibbling about terminology and referencing irrelevant subjects such as porn and paraphilia

Overtheatlantic · 30/01/2026 17:56

How is it being a prude to refer to a vulva as a vulva? Do you mean it’s not what the cool kids do? I just think it sounds dumb.

FuzzyWolf · 30/01/2026 17:59

You mean you assume the OP is talking about her vulva but that’s the problem with using the incorrect terminology is that you have to make a logical guess and you might be wrong.

I used to get it all waxed off, the woman the dude it didn't use gloves. Not sure why you (& some others) think it's necessary.

Menopause took care of the hair 'down there' ' & re routed it to my chin & upper lip. I moved so it's a different woman. But this one doesn't use glives fir my face or underarms.

i can imagine waxing with gloves on is a bit of a nightmare and there's no need.

Manymoresometimes · 30/01/2026 18:01

Jesus, all these mentioning the correct words, who cares, we know what you mean.

Gloves, no gloves, wouldnt bother me to be honest as long as they were clean!

Ooh, how old are you? Im looking forward to the meno pubic hair loss!

i have the chin already

blueluce85 · 30/01/2026 18:03

I'm a tad confused what gloves would actually prevent or protect as long as proper hygiene is followed...ie hand washing..!?

Laser or wax? I’d be very worried if the therapist is referring to your vulva as your vagina. It implies a complete lack of understanding.

I’m trying to think if my beautician wears gloves for my Hollywood. I think she does.

AppropriateAdult · 30/01/2026 19:00

In this scenario, gloves would be for the protection of the wearer, not the person having the laser treatment. In any case, laser isn’t particularly intimate in the sense of having to manipulate your body parts or requiring much contact between the operator‘s hands and your skin - it’s very different to waxing in that regard.

I think its pretty intimate, especially the bum end. Obviously the gloves are for the person doing the lasering but it also is more professional. And if you live where I do, a lot of therapists cook with garlic and ginger a lot and their hands smell, I have had some nauseating facials before, wouldnt want that on my vagina or inside my vulva.

i'm 56. I don't remember exactly when the hair started migrating, but a long time ago! I don't want to get your hopes up though🤣 it's not completely bald, but easily sorted when you want it to be.

face & underarms waxed once a month keeps them respectable!
