Someone keeps sending parcels to my house, what is this??

Jennajenjen · 27/01/2026 23:53

And they are getting bigger and bigger,

every week for 4 months now

first time I thought it was mistake, put up a note on building door saying “KATE J, come to flat 1 get parcel”

this lady showed up, apologised

second time it happened, I put up a sign again, she apologised and put a 10 pound note in my hand, said this is for bothering you, I insist! and walked off

third time it happened, I put up note again. this woman never showed up, I returned parcel to post office

since then I’ve been getting her parcels like ever week and they are getting bigger and bigger.

this has been going on for 4 months now

I keep refusing to take them (sometimes they just leave on my doorstep and i take them to post office to return) but I am wondering what is this?

That must be really annoying, but why do you keep taking them in ?.
You could leave a note on your door for the delivery person.
I hope it gets sorted though.

Needmorelego · 27/01/2026 23:58

So someone is using your address?
Do they live in the same building?

it was our address but someone else’s name

we took them because we often order stuff online and thought it was for us

first one me, second time and third time someone who was home (dh, ds) took them thinking I ordered it without looking at name

@Jennajenjen do they have your name on?
Ask to check the name on the parcel before you sign or accept.
If it's not for anyone in your household refuse them.
For when you're not in put a sign on your door that you will only accept parcels for your names and under no circumstances should any in other names be left at your door.

Jennajenjen · 28/01/2026 00:05

so their name, my address

Just keep refusing them.
The person ordering them presumably will get fed up they aren't recieving their parcels.

RampantIvy · 28/01/2026 00:06

I'm sure I have read somewhere that this is a scam.

But what is the scam?
If whoever is ordering them isn't collecting them what do they get out of it?

Keroppi · 28/01/2026 00:09

Weird
Throw them in the bin or open and keep them if they are dumped outside. I could t be arsed going post office anymore
Is she local then to have seen the note? Or just using your address and driving to you ?

Could put a sign on your door or tell postie that Katie J doesn't live here. But from his perspective it's the right address

Keroppi · 28/01/2026 00:10

Look her up on FB maybe

Be careful, this could be illegal goods or fraud and a common scam/fraud activity without using their own address.

Dont mean to scare you but id be firm to tell them to stop or youll be reporting them, or refuse to take the package.

This happens often when people dont want stuff delivering to their own homed so not traceable. They think theyve fond a reliable alias in your address.

she said sometimes they just leave them on the doorstep.

notatinydancer · 28/01/2026 00:16

I wouldn’t be traipsing to the post office. I’d just leave them by the front door of the building, or throwing them in the bin.

Blankscreen · 28/01/2026 00:21

I'm sure this is a scam but I'm not exactly sure how or what it is. I read it on here.

Jennajenjen · 28/01/2026 00:23

So I took someone’s advice on here and looked her up on Facebook

looks like real person.

But this is what’s weird.

she has this Italian last name and when she came to pick up parcel mil who speaks Italian opened door (mil loves to chat with neighbours)

mil asked her in Italian I noticed Italian name, do you speak Italian?

this woman didn’t answer and quickly walked off, it felt so rapid like she ran off

looking at her page now it’s all in Italian so she understood

I mean maybe she just didn’t feel like talking but maybe it’s something else???

if this is some kind of scam/criminal activity she didn’t want to be found out??

caringcarer · 28/01/2026 00:24

I have read about this type of scam. The person collecting the goods is using a stolen credit or debit card by using your address and probably the name of the person on the stolen card they gain the goods but they can't be traced. You need to report to the police.

I thought so too but this woman only collected the parcels twice and only when I left note on front building door

the third, forth time etc time she never came

i also just looked her up on Facebook, its same woman that came to pick up with same name

@Jennajenjen this is sensible advice. Put a sign on your door saying named person doesn't live there.
It sounds well dodgy.

Gorlamdia · 28/01/2026 01:02

I'm sure I have this same story on here recently, including the £10 note. The poster's daughter had taken in the last one I think.
