And they are getting bigger and bigger,

every week for 4 months now

first time I thought it was mistake, put up a note on building door saying “KATE J, come to flat 1 get parcel”

this lady showed up, apologised

second time it happened, I put up a sign again, she apologised and put a 10 pound note in my hand, said this is for bothering you, I insist! and walked off

third time it happened, I put up note again. this woman never showed up, I returned parcel to post office

since then I’ve been getting her parcels like ever week and they are getting bigger and bigger.

this has been going on for 4 months now

I keep refusing to take them (sometimes they just leave on my doorstep and i take them to post office to return) but I am wondering what is this?

I'm slightly puzzled:

Parcels are addressed to Kate J

The Italian alphabet contains 21 letters—A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, Z—omitting J, K, W, X, and Y. It is a highly phonetic language where most letters have a consistent sound. The five excluded letters are used only for foreign loanwords, technical terms, or specific regional names

Kate j is not her name, it’s just random/example name I made up to post, my flat number is not number 1 either

I just didn’t want to post identifying details online. Or her “real name”, felt wrong. who knows what it could be linked to

I don't get why you accept them. You know that nobody of that name has ever lived in your house?

It seems dodgy and annoying so just tell postman and delivery people they don't live here and pls don't deliver to that name here.

The thing that would worry me is if it's bank related stuff, loans etc? If someone is using your address for that. But I don't see how if they never collect the stuff.

someone in house accepted the first 3 because we are always ordering something online and always expecting parcels. we took them thinking it’s for us

the rest of them delivery men keep leaving on my doostep

Annoying. Try and catch them and just reiterate it's definitely not for your house. Maybe put up a sign saying 'do not leave parcels for Imelda Marcos as she does not and never has lived here'.

They can leave it on someone else's doorstep if they're adamant it belongs in your street/building.

Impress upon everyone in the household to check the name before taking a parcel in.
And those left on the doorstep: does your building have a communal entranceway of any kind? If so I'd leave them there with a note saying 'misdelivered'.
Incidentally, even if your building is big, if it's one building how come you don't know if she's in the same one?

HankyP · 29/01/2026 02:00

Next time you have one left that they need to collect I would tell her that you aren't taking in any more parcels for them and to change their address and ask WHY they haven't already!?

What I meant was, surely you do know she’s in the same building as you if the address applies only to one building.

This!!
OP, have you told her to get in touch with the sender and change the address? And that you won't be taking anymore in?

I’ve had a scam similar to this a couple of times - first was an expensive mobile I didn’t order in my name - a fake courier came to collect it 20 minutes later and I’d refused delivery, much to his chagrin. Another scam was someone ordering something to my address in their name and then coming to collect it in the evening - I’d already returned it via the Amazon cabinet at the end of the road. I suspect he’d ordered whatever it was on credit or with a dodgy credit card. He was similarly upset.
