And they are getting bigger and bigger,

every week for 4 months now

first time I thought it was mistake, put up a note on building door saying “KATE J, come to flat 1 get parcel”

this lady showed up, apologised

second time it happened, I put up a sign again, she apologised and put a 10 pound note in my hand, said this is for bothering you, I insist! and walked off

third time it happened, I put up note again. this woman never showed up, I returned parcel to post office

since then I’ve been getting her parcels like ever week and they are getting bigger and bigger.

this has been going on for 4 months now

I keep refusing to take them (sometimes they just leave on my doorstep and i take them to post office to return) but I am wondering what is this?

I'm sure I have this same story on here recently, including the £10 note. The poster's daughter had taken in the last one I think.

It's posted on here often. Last time I saw it was in chat.

Rosie2120 · 28/01/2026 01:28

Could they have opened an account using your address to place orders?
Even if they are not picking them up they could make a claim for the parcel not arriving or they don't care if they are sent back
Or it's dodgy items.

Can you contact them on FB and ask them to stop using your address

And also check your details online that they haven't been used to open accounts?

@Jennajenjen ah one of the threads was yours!
are the parcels heavy? What would your best guess be at what is in them?
I wouldn’t keep accepting them. Maybe try the police on 101. It sounds very dodgy.

Sockskeepmyfeetwarm · 28/01/2026 02:53

A couple of years ago, someone gained access to my password. They then accessed a multitude of shopping sites to see if I had accounts. Unfortunately, I had used a couple of well known brands and had allowed them to keep my card details on file (I didn’t untick the box at checkout). They had already purchased over £1000 worth of items when I found out. I was able to find out the address that they were sent to from the account. The police and stores were not interested and I was able to get refunded.

The address was 300 miles away but my cousin lived relatively close so went to the address and the scenario unfolded just as you describe. The people there were receiving parcels and some had been collected.

I have since been told that this is done on a large scale. They will have many addresses. They will collect some.. They will continue to send parcels just to see if they can still order using the card. The £10 was likely a tactic to get you on board so you didn’t become suspicious.

Bjorkdidit · 28/01/2026 05:21

Put up a new sign. KATE J GET YOUR PARCELS SENT TO YOUR OWN ADDRESS.

If it's a scam, I have no idea what it is, but the stolen credit card explanation upthread sounds plausible

Or could she be hiding her online shopping from her partner?

deadpan · 28/01/2026 06:12

Needmorelego · 28/01/2026 00:09

But what is the scam?
If whoever is ordering them isn't collecting them what do they get out of it?

Apparently there's a fake review scam, she could be paid by Amazon or sellers on Amazon to post reviews. But to stop it looking like fake reviews they send the item out so they can claim its bona fide. Seems like a lot of hassle to get people to buy from you but I guess it shows what cheap crap lots of people buy that it can be wasted like that. Although she could sell in what is sent out I guess

canisquaeso · 28/01/2026 06:12

I’d screenshot her profile etc but also maybe post something on the local group?

I agree with everyone else, sounds very dodgy.

Iwanttogobacktobed · 28/01/2026 06:36

I had something similar. But with no name on the parcel so used to assume it was mine and open it. It was always full of cheap temu tatt, a few parcels were a weird toothpaste.

They didnt have a return address, so i just binned them

Yes I remember it too

TeamToeBeans · 28/01/2026 06:38

If she’s seen your notes from the road / pavement, could she also see a parcel if it was left outside? I wonder if she is passing by hoping to spot the parcel on the doorstep, in order to grab it without you ever being aware? It would explain why she has collected only when there has been a note.

Pumpkinmagic · 28/01/2026 06:51

Of course its dodgy. I would not be handling those parcels at all. You have no idea what is in them and if something illegal. Do not take them. Put a sign in your door.

Money laundering?

Paying with one card getting a refund on a different card?

Scammers are very clever.

Jennajenjen · 28/01/2026 00:35

I thought so too but this woman only collected the parcels twice and only when I left note on front building door

the third, forth time etc time she never came

i also just looked her up on Facebook, its same woman that came to pick up with same name

I am a housing officer.

I got this when I moved a new tenant in a block. He moved in flat 19 and flat 12 kept getting parcels. Next thing I know the guy from no 16 is calling to let me know the police have been in the building, hand delivered letters though all the doors advising it os illegal to get drugs posted from other countries yo yhe UK.

Yep new customer was having cannabis delivered.
Just be mindful it could be drugs or stolen card details. It may be a honest mistake

SparklyGlitterballs · 28/01/2026 07:09

Send her something on Messenger (get MIL to translate into Italian if necessary) telling her to stop sending parcels to your address, you're aware this could be a scam and you'll be informing the police. If you know her identity then I'd inform the police anyway and give them a list of how often they've been sending parcels and collecting/not collecting them.

Are you in a flat? (bit confused when you say 'building') Regardless, put a note up saying "x name does not live here and no parcels in that name to be left here". Make sure your family check the name on the parcel when they answer the door.

Francestein · 28/01/2026 07:14

You should put a note up saying “Kate J I refuse all responsibility for your parcels. If they get nicked it’s on you.”

Makingadecision · 28/01/2026 07:17

I would report to police online so you have a record of the report just incase. Then I would do what others suggested and put up a notice not to deliver parcels for person x at the address. Keep good notes of times and dates and the FB page.

LilWoosmum82 · 28/01/2026 07:22

Keep returning to the post office, this sounds v odd, her using your address. See if the post office can assist with the parcels

DeftTurtle · 28/01/2026 07:30

It’s called a brushing scam. Please return itema to post office as addressee unknown at this address.

Climbinghigher · 28/01/2026 07:31

Report to police. They won’t be interested in working out what is going on but at least there is a record it’s nothing to do with you if it ends up being dodgy.

i’d also open one ‘oh whoops I didn’t notice the name’ to see what is being sent.

If it’s cheap tat it will be for reviews or some sort of fraud as described above.

Pineappleice43 · 28/01/2026 07:50

I think I'd refuse them and if they're still left I'd leave them by the communal door, possibly scribbling out your address on the box?

dollyblue01 · 28/01/2026 07:53

The person who lived here before me kept doing this, originally I took them back to the post office and told her so when she knocked. She continued so I binned them, slowly they are getting less 😬 think she may be getting the message that what she sends here she won’t see again. 🫤

LeftieRightsHoarder · 28/01/2026 07:53

RampantIvy · 28/01/2026 00:06

I'm sure I have read somewhere that this is a scam.

My sister had this once from a neighbour, who was stealing from a catalogue company by, I think, pretending the goods she ordered using other people’s addresses hadn’t been delivered.

Don’t let this continue, OP, or your address could get blacklisted.

TemperanceBooth · 28/01/2026 07:58

I'd log this with the police and refuse further parcels that aren't in your name.

paradisecircus · 28/01/2026 08:00

Almost certainly a scam I'd say. I'd be tempted to take the next one in then, when they come round for it, deny knowledge so it looks as if the fake address is no longer working. Then return to sender. Check your credit though, If they're using your address it might be a form of identity theft.
