Facebook message request help please

Hi, posting here for traffic.

If I sent a Facebook message to someone I'm not Facebook friends with and it goes into their message requests, can I block them and prevent them from seeing the message and/or my profile picture & name?

I think they might still see the message as you've sent it before blocking,is there an unsend option like Instagram has?

ETA : yes there is , press on the message and hold and you get 2 unsend options, at the bottom of the page, unsend for you or unsend for everyone

I sent it last night so I've only got unsend for me unfortunately... It's not a big deal, just an unsolicited message rather then massively embarrassing or dodgy.

The message or me? I don't care if they see the message as I didn't sign my name but wouldn't it say Facebook user and no profile picture?

I believe if you block you will still show they just can't reply.

Oh my god. No. So sorry that happened!

It was literally just ... clearing up a misunderstanding that probably didn't need to be said anyway.

But the person doesn't know me really, we just exchange pleasantries now and again so the act of messaging when we haven't even exchanged names feels like it'll come across creepy. My friend convinced me to message, and I wish hadn't listened now!

Can you test it out with a friend? When I occasionally go into spam or message requests most of them say message from user4547484 or you can’t see who has sent them so I assumed it was from someone I’d blocked or someone no longer on Facebook

I think it only says “facebook user” if you deactivate your account, which might be a bit extreme. Maybe they don’t know how to access their “other” inbox and will never see the message 🤞🏻
