To feel smug?

It’s raining, I’m bored, so I decided to make a Parmesan & Cheddar Soufflé.

Never made any type of Soufflé before.

Tastes very good and no white bits!

Looks incredible. My aunt made souffles that were like tough, dry pancakes and it's put me off ever giving it a go but you've inspired me to try it.

Cupcakegirl13 · 25/01/2026 18:04

youalright · 25/01/2026 18:06

Thank you!
I used this recipe (and added 1tsp Dijon mustard & and half a bag of Parsley moulding in the fridge).

Three soufflés in white dishes

Cheese soufflé

A long, lazy weekend afternoon is the perfect opportunity to spend some time in your kitchen perfecting the art of a light-as-air savoury soufflé

I think you have every right to feel smug for producing that!

DramaAlpaca · 25/01/2026 18:09

Ooh, nicely done, it looks great!

KrazyboutKillian · 25/01/2026 18:10

Wow that looks great !
I’ve always been nervous of making soufflé but you are inspiring

Owly11 · 25/01/2026 18:11

Ooh you should be smug at least for the rest of the day!

It did. I had it with a pickled beetroot salad.

It’s probably beginners luck, but who cares 🤣

Thanks for the recipe @Sminty2 . If mine's half as good as your attempt I'll post a photo.

I’ve always been terrified of them too but this recipe (and getting everything prepared and measured out) before starting, made it easier.

Beginners luck, but I’m taking the medal 🤣

That looks impressive!
I ordered and ate one for the first time recently, cheese and chive. It was really tasty 🤤
enjoy your soufflé and the justified smug feeling 🙌🏾

Lindy2 · 25/01/2026 18:23

That looks lovely.

I made some chocolate ones many years ago which were OK. They didn't rise quite as much as hoped but tasted nice.

I think you've inspired me to try making a cheese one.

Chickadiddy · 25/01/2026 18:33

That looks absolutely fantastic.
Well done you!!

I think you totally deserve to spend the day as Mrs Smuggy McSmugness .

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 25/01/2026 18:38

It looks great. You are entitled to feel pleased with yourself!

B1anche · 25/01/2026 18:44

It looks amazing. Well done! I've bookmarked the recipe to try one day.

OttersMayHaveShifted · 25/01/2026 19:02

Oooh - that looks amazing, well done! I've never made a soufflé. I can't eat gluten, but I just looked at the recipe and it doesn't have much flour in at all, does it? I reckon it might work with gluten-free flour <excited>!

It easily serves 6 people, so that’s 5g or 1 tsp of flour per serving. Maybe rice flour?
