AIBU to think that the inappropriate behaviour started a long time before the wedding dance...??

I think it is a shame the media aren't using it to start a conversation about whether it's OK for celebrities to treat their children as props and a much bigger question about consent.

There are a lot of influencers that have monetised their kids and are shamelessly exploiting their children for likes & ads etc. Those poor kids will never know privacy and their whole lives (so far) are being documented online. They have absolutely no say in the matter.

Shouldn't there be laws to protect the privacy of children until they are old enough to give consent?

MidWayThruJanuary · 24/01/2026 20:46

This is what he spoke about. The performative situations where he had no choice or control.

That’s photoshopped. Her hair is completely different to the other pictures, but Brooklyn looks the same, at the same event.

Her dress and hair are different in the middle one. The writing behind them is different. Maybe it's not the same event - he just happens to be wearing the same suit and tie.

Personally I think this is quite problematic because it’s shifts the nature of our Laws and by definition, our freedoms. At the moment parents are free to make decisions on their children’s behalf with the state only stepping in to legislate against immediate harm. This would turn this on its head and say that parents are not free to make (for most people minor) decisions about their children’s lives in respect to the distribution of their image.

personally I would rather parents didn’t, but also don’t believe you should legislate everything that could be a bad idea and don’t live in society that does that.

Tableforjoan · 24/01/2026 20:47

He has been a prop to them since he was born but yes lots of photos not just these three of the pair are a bit 🤏🏻 how you’d see a girlfriend draping or looking at her boyfriend or where he just looks like a frozen statue standing as told.

She’s tried to go for loving close fun cool mum and it’s not quite hit the spot in all the photos.

You can find a photo weird without thinking it’s incesty that’s just a way to shut down criticism of the photo.

Charlize43 · 24/01/2026 20:55

I remember seeing on Tattle (which I sometime read) Louise Thompson getting a lot of flak for posting online naked pictures of her son in the bath.

With so many weirdos out there a lot of people felt it was hugely irresponsible in terms of safeguarding, to say nothing of the digital footprint that would remain forever.

Personally, I'd hate if my parents had posted naked pics of me as a child online. Anyone could be looking at them. It's creepy and you don't know who you could attract.

Agree, and lawyers being consulted by VB

I don’t know, I think “incestuous” is hyperbole but these photos do make me uncomfortable. In the context of BB’s own disclosures about how this sort of behaviour has made him feel, I do think VB is trampling boundaries and prioritising her own image over her son’s comfort in these images and many like them. From what he has said, and my own general impression of VB, she does not have and never has had the kind of relationship with BB that might make this sort of physical intimacy at least normal for them. Distance and “inauthentic relationships” except when the cameras are flashing, at which point it’s close physical contact and really quite intimate and overtly loving kisses…I can see how that would feel quite fucked up from his perspective.

Lobbygobbler · 24/01/2026 21:06

I’m always hugging and kissing my DC. I don’t see anything wrong with it at all and it’s weird others do.

Exactly this. There is nothing wrong with the photos apart from the fact it seems this behaviour was turned on for the media, rather than a true reflection of a loving and close family. As PP have said, it's a shame this is not kick starting a wider discussion of parents monetising their children for social media. Although I think the Beckhams have probably ruined their kid's childhoods and possibly their relationships by making them part of their brand from the moment of conception, I actually feel sorry for VB that some people seem intent on branding her a pervert.

MidWayThruJanuary · 24/01/2026 21:13

@Lobbygobbler
Do you do it in the full glare of the world’s media?
If your children didn’t want you to, would you respect their wishes?

And third..

That one looks like someone who has had one too many sherbets and can't quite stand up 😂

Because he clearly from his statement didn’t want it.

Also big difference between a hug and kiss hello, goodbye, morning, night night and posing for the public photos.

One is love one is performance.

YourTidyGreyRobin · 24/01/2026 21:15

BIG fail OP - get back under your rock.

Branster · 24/01/2026 21:16

The pictures are very performative, acted out so it looks good on camera. The boy looks uncomfortable (any teenage boy would if their own mother would be making a genuine show of affection in public).

I find the fact that DB walks around holding Harper's hand like she is a 5 year old more disturbing. Not sure what's going on there, the photos don't look right, especially as she's often made to (or allowed to?) wear those grown up silk slip dresses. It just looks weird to me.

Zov · 24/01/2026 21:17

She clearly loves and adores him.

What's your problem @OnePinkHedgehog ???

MidWayThruJanuary · 24/01/2026 21:17

It’s not a ‘big fail ‘ @YourTidyGreyRobin
Any post that opens up discussion about a child’s right to privacy is worth reading.

Yes I agree David and Harper is again over performative and treats her like a little little girl rather than a teenager.

They both seemed to of picked a child to be a bit ott with photo prop wise.

Give over she's a proud mum hugging and kissing her boy.
Why do some people always look for something to complain about?

Agree with all of this except feeling sorry for her. I'm not. She may not be a sexual pervert, but she is still emotionally abusive IMO.

MidWayThruJanuary · 24/01/2026 21:27

Popbitch have written a bit about this. Also, The Rest is Entertainment podcast had an interesting segment too.
