Why do some posters use AI on here and seem to lose the plot with writing?

Homer Simpson Thinking GIF

Observation inspired by recent threads.
Posts ramble on not making much sense and sometimes I wonder if they are from the under the bridge lot making a bad job of things.
It's difficult to make much sense of some and personally I lose interest if the first OP is bot written. I can't be the only one who thinks this way.

OP posts:

Because people are lazy? Lack confidence?

I still haven’t used chat GPT ever.

Because they're dictating something into ChatGPT and spoken incoherence looks doubly strange when transcribed into written text. And if they need AI in first place, they're too stupid to spot grammatical and syntax errors in the final text.

Some posters call out posts as AI a lot but I’m sure a lot of them aren’t and are just badly written.

Some posts have no punctuation and are just load of thoughts all flowing together and jumping around all over the place, very difficult to understand.

The posters of these also struggle to answer questions when asked, or give one word answers which don’t provide any further clarity.

Which is sadly a result of the UK’s education system failing huge numbers of people.

The ones that could be AI tend to have better spelling and grammar, but maybe do ramble a bit too much. And I think they then don’t come back and answer questions / give updates?

Like you, I’m not sure of the point. I don’t know if it’s under the bridgers starting these threads, and if no, for what purpose? Or if it’s a genuine poster using AI for some reason, possibly to better organise their thoughts.

I'm worried my posts look like they're written by AI at the moment but in fact it's just that I am unable to type so I am relying on voice dictation.

I think if posters feel the need to use AI, that’s ok, but it would be better if they mention that they’ve done it. Otherwise, yes, they look like bots.

I agree that people are lazy for using AI all the time and not engaging their brain. But I think you need to embrace it as it’s here to stay. So not using it and not understanding how to use it puts you at a disadvantage - this is the future.

CassandraCan · 24/01/2026 09:32

OP, totally agree with you. I’m also sick fed up of all the AI videos. A little kid talking and being cute with their pet? Super cute if it’s real. It is utterly pointless and a waste of everyone’s time if it’s artificial. Same for all other types of these stupid videos. What is the point?

DyslexicPoster · 24/01/2026 09:41

The obvious AI ones are just weird. There's no context or point. Like the ones with the title from AI included.

I got accused of being AI due to my spelling. I have a degree. I'm sure AI can use spell check and use punctuation.

The problem with AI is it can get the whole point very slightly wrong, and if you don't proof read, you get some contradicting crap. Also, if your like me, I proof read what I want to see. I miss out key words so " I will NOT" becomes "I will".

Surely bad spelling is very unlikely to be AI? It is always pushed on MN that spelling and grammar is the most basic of intelligence marker. So I'm autmatically seen as more stupid than someone who failed every gcse dispite having 14 grade C and above and completing half a masters degree.
