How long until i’m thin?

I am hopefully starting the jab on Friday, so the start of Feb, when will I start to look slimmer? Currently a size 18

Really difficult question as it's very individual - it can depend where the weight comes off. If you lose a steady 1 or 2 lb a week you will start to feel slimmer almost straight away - looser clothes, seeing changes in the mirror - but it usually takes dropping a dress size for other people to start noticing.

BigDeanWinchesterFan · 23/01/2026 23:06

My exact question too! Also a size 18, this is the start of my second week and I've lost nearly 2.5kg. Hoping to look slimmer by the time I go back to work in late Feb. Which injection will you do?

Ohthatsabitshit · 23/01/2026 23:10

I’ve lost 2.5 stone I feel more comfortable in my skin but I definitely don’t feel slim or slinky or anything. I am still wearing my size 18 trousers thought they are looser.

Emma2803 · 23/01/2026 23:11

I've been on it for 6 months, just over 4st loss but I started at over 20st and probably a size 24, it was probably about 3st before people commented that I had lost weight but I'd noticed it myself and in my clothes at about 2st loss.
It definitely takes longer for people to start commenting than for you to see and feel it.

Best decision I've ever made.

TokenGinger · 23/01/2026 23:13

I’m 7 months in, 3.5st down. I felt noticeably slimmer after the first two stone, I’d say around 3-4 months in.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 23/01/2026 23:14

I started at about 20st and it wasn't until I'd lost 5st that anyone noticed.

What do you actually weigh OP?

Not sure 🤔 maybe 13 stone, i’m short too

It's taken me two years to lose 9st.

I think I'm almost thin now, although my BMI is still 27.

I'm in size 8 - 10 clothes though.

hahagogomomo · 23/01/2026 23:19

It’s far safer and healthier to loose steadily but not too quickly, also ensure you exercise and read advice on trying to reduce excess skin ( the quicker you loose the bigger the issue I read particularly your neck) patience basically

GoldMerchant · 23/01/2026 23:19

I started at a size 18 and I think it was probably about 2 months until I felt it was noticeable for me, which was probably about when I dropped a dress size. Probably another month or so until other people also started to notice.

Been on it 7 months, lost nearly 3 stone.

You must know if you're about to start MJ.

How did you get approved without knowing your weight?

Are you sure they'll prescribe it?

Have you got four or more of the health conditions which will qualify you?

VyeBrator · 23/01/2026 23:28

I don't understand how anyone can not actually know their own weight.

It should be as standard as knowing when your next period or next dental check up is due.

And your BMI has to be over 40.

You must have worked out your BMI before even seeing the doctor. There's no point otherwise

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 23/01/2026 23:37

Are you sure about this?
I've worked out that you're only 4' 8" if your BMI is 40 at 13st.

If your BMI is 40 you're not going to be a size 18.........

Are you just getting the MJ from an unlicensed source or a friend?
🤣

I could have written this post word for word - exact same for me.

Doggymummar · 23/01/2026 23:42

It was 6 stone for me before anyone noticed, so about 9 months

soupyspoon · 23/01/2026 23:50

In the first and sometimes the second week you'll probably lose a large amount, sometimes up to half a stone, depending on your current diet and how overweight you are

It should then settle into a pattern of around 1-2lbs a week, sometimes a bit more if you're having quite a high deficit

Its a complete myth that the speed you lose weight determines how much loose skin, skin is about your genetics and how elastic it is and how long its been stretched for. Dont let anything like that put you off, its a great decision to make.

Some people fluctuate all the time. I vary about 8 or 10lbs a couple of times a year. Then bloating or constipation or being premenstrual could vary 3lbs on any given day. Also, regular weighing if you are overweight is soul destroying, it's not surprising people don't do it.

Ffs! Why so negative, yes I can get it for health conditions and it’s a private Dr, not the Nhs

Yes exactly this, I hate weighing myself

Yes I can be 8lb heavier one day and then it vanishes the next day but I weigh every day so that I understand the fluctuations and dont get affected by them

There are apps for tracking your trajectory so you know if you are just maintaining and the fluctations arent indicative of you gaining weight. Graph hopper is one I use

And then the people who don't do it are shocked at how much they've gained, when they eventually do weigh themselves.

It may not be a nice thing to have to do but then again, nor is going to the dentist.

Just part of keeping a check on your health.

TheChosenTwo · 23/01/2026 23:55

I started in October ‘24 in a size 16-18 at 16st.
by Christmas a few people noticed I was looking like i’d shrunk a bit. I had. I lost the weight so quickly at the beginning, 3 stones in 3 months. And it was because I didn’t touch a single scrap of junk food which I had been in denial about the quantity I was eating. I was still eating meals (only ever had 2 a day and still the same now) and they’re usually home made and pretty healthy but I used to snack a lot and just eat so much crap until I first jabbed. The remaining 3.5 stone took about 10 months to shift but the first few literally melted off me.
So I suspect it will largely be to do with what the change in your diet will be - mine was a huge change and it reflected in my weight loss. Of course there will be LOADS of factors which could effect it and I’m only going on my own experiences, good luck to a happy and healthy MJ journey 🤞🏽
