I am hopefully starting the jab on Friday, so the start of Feb, when will I start to look slimmer? Currently a size 18

I think it’s difficult to answer your question really as everyone as different. What I would say is that how quickly you lose the weight really depends on the effort you put in. The medication isn’t a magic potion, it just helps you get into a calorie deficit. See it as a tool but make sure you work out the amount of calories you need to eat using a TDEE calculator online and track everything using an app such as nutracheck. I personally wouldn’t want to lose it very quickly. I didn’t rush up the doses and have been losing 1-2lbs a week. It’s taken me 18 months to lose 5 stone but I have virtually no loose skin and have had zero side effects. Try and prioritise protein too. Good luck.

Frogsdreaming · 24/01/2026 10:04

It took hitting the 3st lost mark for other people to start noticing for me which was about 7 months after starting. Im now
4 1/2 st lighter and at my goal weight and it feels amazing. Its been the best decision I ever made, I feel so much healthier. I only increased dose from 0.25mg to 0.7mg (wegovy) over the whole process and had zero side effects. Good luck OP 💪

Not me but my close friend has lost 5 stone in 6 months. She started at 16 stone. I really noticed a difference around 3 months in. Her face did look less round etc for a while but around the 3 month part she showed up to meet me and the weight loss was really obvious all of a sudden. She noticed a difference after 6 weeks.

littleyellowflowerspotted · 24/01/2026 10:22

Do you mean when will you start to notice or when will other people start to notice?

I started out at a size 18 but it wasn’t until I lost 3 stone that people started to notice. I’m only halfway done as well - another 2.5 stone to go.

LeopardPrintEverything · 24/01/2026 13:15

I started Mounjaro (buying online from Asda Online doctor) in June 2025 at 13 stone 8, I’m 5’4” and was a 14-16 - I’m now 10 stone 2 and a size 10-12 and I feel great! Still got another half stone or so to lose but I’ve been taking it slow and steady and making the lifestyle changes to my diet etc. I’d say I noticed the difference myself in how my clothes felt and looked before other people started noticing and commenting, now I regularly get the “my god where have you disappeared to” when I see friends and family 🤣 Best of luck!!

Theda13 · 24/01/2026 13:19

I’ve lost 9lbs since September (not through jabs, just through eating less in general).

I honestly haven’t noticed it myself, but my partner has said I look noticeably thinner

Blueberrysqish · 24/01/2026 13:20

I started MJ in Feb last year. I’ve lost 7st 7lbs.
I didn’t start feeling thinner until maybe 3/4 stone loss. It took ages for my mind to catch up with what my body looked like and I was still trying ti get wear clothes in a much bigger size.
I’ve gone from a 20/22 to a size 14.

mydogisanidiott · 24/01/2026 13:23

I started jan 25 at 15st12 size 18 -20 44in waist

now 11st8, size 12, 31 inch waist.

took about 10 months.

Mumof1andacat · 24/01/2026 13:25

It's about perspective and how you feel about your body. My lowest weight ever was 8st 7. I'm 5ft. I wore a size 10. In my head I was fat. I wouldn't wear certain clothes because I was fat. I would cover myself up and hide my body through fear that people would look at me and say she's fat or I might catch my reflection.

NoParticularPattern · 24/01/2026 13:34

I’ve lost 7.5 stone since May 2025. I was over 23 stone and now I’m just under 16. I’ve gone from a 22 to a 16 and honestly it was only around the 3-4 stone mark that people asked if I’d lost weight. Hilariously my husband’s family still won’t admit that I look any different even though I’m literally a third smaller 😂. Sometimes people noticing isn’t about you, it’s about them. But expect to lose a lot in the first week or two depending on what your diet is like now, then about 1-2lb/week after that. If you’re not a giant like me then it will take a smaller loss to look significantly different. I’ve got about another 3-4 stone to lose.

PatheticDistraction · 24/01/2026 13:35

I'm 1lb off 2st lost, and started at 12st 8lbs, I'm 5'2. I started on the 7th November.

It is only this week that I feel significantly slimmer, my trousers are loose etc. One person commented that I had lost weight ore Christmas, but that's it.

Lottle · 24/01/2026 13:40

I was your weight and also short. I lose 3st in 6 months on mounjaro. I've now had to come off for health reasons unfortunately but determined to keep it off.

Sartre · 24/01/2026 13:43

Never used WLI but lost 7 stone in a year through sheer willpower and hard work. My body is hugely reactive so if I cut calories down and start running and working out, the weight flies off. Equally, if I stop working out and eat too many calories I gain weight like no tomorrow.

I found the first four stone came off really quickly, like within the first 4-5 months then the final 3 stone was more of a bugger and took around 7 months. People noticed after the first couple of stone. I was 17 stone, I’m tall.

I don't understand how anyone can not actually know their own weight.

It should be as standard as knowing when your next period or next dental check up is due.

Very easily - you just don't weigh yourself. I started refusing to get on the scales at the doctor at about 14, and never owned any scales at home for about 25 years after leaving home at 18. It's not something that everyone cares about.

Pretty bad at keeping track of periods too...

InfoSecInTheCity · 24/01/2026 13:47

I started as size 22, just under 16st at 5ft 8 and it was a good 3 stone before it was really obvious I’d lost weight and before I needed to replace my clothes.

Attached my spreadsheet (might take a while to be visible while it gets approved) to show rate of loss.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 23/01/2026 23:22

You must know if you're about to start MJ.

How did you get approved without knowing your weight?

Anyone can get it online by lying. Not saying it's a good idea, but some companies are a lot slacker than others on that stuff.

It's certainly something that everyone cares about as soon as they start WLI though.

Rather than 'not caring', it seems to be fear that prevents a lot of people.

Fear of the reality of it all but that doesn't mean they shouldn't face it if they have a weight problem.

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 24/01/2026 13:52

me and dh started early Jan last year and the weight loss was slow and steady, a pound or two a week (prob more for him). I was 12 stone 9 starting and he was 19 stone 13. I am now 8 stone 10 and he’s 12 stone 11. Within a few weeks of starting we were already needing new clothes. If we had been more sensible we wouldn’t have bought new clothes we would have bought second hand more but hindsight is a wonderful thing. Good luck to you.

Haribosweets · 24/01/2026 13:53

I started in August and lost 4 stone. So about 5 months. Didn't notice I looked slimmer until the 3.5 stone mark and no one noticed until 4 stone.

Wickedlittledancer · 24/01/2026 13:53

I think maybe people are a little bemused, you don’t know what you weigh, or your bmi nor have you been prescribed it yet. Why are you seeing a private doctor v private presciption via a pharmacy, do you need additional support, it’s much more expensive hiring a doctor obviously.

anyway, I’d say you need fi aim to lose 1-2lbs a week and do everything in your power to protect muscle and lose fat only. So eat a min of 1g of protein for every kg of body weight, ideally more, drink 3 litres of water a day and do strength training, make sure you immediately start on a clean and healthy diet in a calorie deficit. 500 under what you burn is 1lb a week weight loss, 1000 is 2lbs, don’t be tempted to go faster, or not protect muscle, as you will end up with lose skin and won’t like what you see in the mirror when you hit goal.

i lost 6lbs in the first week. It was all inflammation going and excess fluid, after that I lost on average 1.5 lbs a week and 6,5 stone in total, going from 32 bmi to 20, where I’ve been maintaining now on a low dose for about 10 months.

Biggles27 · 24/01/2026 14:11

I was a size 18 six months ago, three stone down and a size 18

i started at 21.5 stone and a size 22

ive got 2 stone to get back to my lowest size which was an easy 12

some people lose 2 stone and drop 3 dress sizes

i wasnt a deluded size 18 btw! I wasn’t wearing stretch clothes that were staring at the seams. Cotton traders non stretch cotton shorts, Levi non stretch jeans, Joules cotton tops - all fit the same. Linen shirts - still fit the same

i only tend to shrink once my weight is way way down

my daughter is shorter than me, is 1.5 stone lighter and is 3 dress sizes smaller

basically what you’re asking isn’t answerable as everyone is different

sustainable weight loss is 1-2lb a week. If you’re getting big losses every week, you’re under eating, you’ll most likely pile the weight back on and probably be losing a lot of muscle as well as fat

food suppression to the extent where you can’t even eat 1000 calories a day isn’t the goal

calculate your calories using a tdee calculator. Work out your maintenance calories (not your bmr) and take off 500 cslories

track every single last thing you eat - even a squeeze of ketchup (all those extras really add up)

walk more

make sure you eat enough protein (I’m not talking crazy high amounts) but make sure your diet is balanced with enough fibre and protein

i wish you every success on your journey

Binus · 24/01/2026 14:13

As you're short, if it works averagely on you it will probably be visible weight loss within a few weeks. I was told it was noticeable on me after about 4 weeks and half a stone, albeit I was lighter than you on beginning. The impression I get is it can take longer to show on taller people, although I have form for not noticing when a tall person is actually quite fat anyway. Most people also seem to lose quicker initially then the rate slows down. That's how it was for me anyway.

Honeymonster3 · 24/01/2026 14:27

The jab is a great tool to help lose weight but unfortunately it's not a miracle cure. I started mounjaro last Feb so been on it about 11 months, I've lost just over 4 stone in total and would like to lose just under a stone left. I have to calorie count as well because I've noticed when I let my calorie counting go a bit lax then I can go weeks without losing a single pound. It's not just how much you eat it's also what you eat, I use my fitness pal as it's free and it actually shocked me how many calories are in certain foods I would look at what I ate all day and think I've hardly had anything but I was already on 1500 calories. For me I have to try and stay between 1400-1600 calories a day to try and maintain/lose weight. I've also noticed now after being on the mj for so long that if I splurge (mainly when I'm due on) and overeat I get horrible stomach pains and am violently sick the next day so just heads up there are drawbacks to the jab too. But as long as you're watching what you eat and calorie count, prioritize protein too and you'll find the weight should come off gradually.

Walnutair2 · 24/01/2026 14:32

I’ve gone from 71.5kg to 67.8 in three weeks. Have to remind myself to eat, it’s amazing.

HereIGoOnceMore · 24/01/2026 14:43

I started WLI back in May and read a post that really resonated with me comparing weight loss to kitchen roll/toilet roll. When you take a few sheets off a new, fat roll, it’s not that noticeable, but as you get closer to the end, every sheet makes a big difference.

Most people get a bit of an early boost from water loss, meaning their clothes feel better, but it takes a few months of keeping going to see the real difference. Hang on in there though. I hit my goal weight 2 weeks ago and I still can’t get over the normal sized woman in the mirror.
