I am hopefully starting the jab on Friday, so the start of Feb, when will I start to look slimmer? Currently a size 18

As others have noted, individual results vary wildly. I've lost about 2 stone in 2 months (at a relatively low dosage of tirzepatide) and I've been happy with the results. However no one has noticed I've lost weight at all--which pleases me. I look normal, but not 'thin'. I'm happy that I'm no longer teetering at appearing borderline overweight.

My husband began at a much heavier weight, and he's only lost 1 stone in 4 months. He still looks visibly overweight, but he's stopped gaining weight which is important for his health. He's losing weight much more slowly, despite graduating to a much higher dosage more quickly than I did. He will continue to increase his dosage slowly over time. While he's losing weight so slowly, it's still an improvement vs gaining weight over the past few years despite all his efforts to lose weight without WLI.

I wish you good luck at your appointment and hope that you get good results!

Imisssleep88 · 25/01/2026 03:10

I started last February and lost 5.5 stone to Christmas, I am not sure what size I started at but was 112kg to start with. I lost about 3 stone in the first 4 months before I went on holiday in the June. It isn't a miracle injection, you do need to be sensible about what you eat and listen when your body says your full. The injection takes away the food noise of what snacks are there to eat, or I just fancy something sweet after dinner and I was full after a about a third of my usual dinner. Fit me if I ate rubbish out too much on it, it gave me horrible symptoms of nausea or upset belly so it was drive to be good she sensible. Honestly best thing I ever did. Good luck

Some of numbers are mad. I’m shocked tbh!
our of curiosity- are any of you worried about stopping and what that might mean? Or planning on staying in the jabs? Or do you feel you’ve changed your habits / lifestyle etc radically as a result of the jabs? I have no experience but I’ve read a lot about how they function and recent info on what happens after stopping. Genuinely curious x

What is mad about the numbers, what are you shocked about

Do you regularly ask people who attend WW or SW (insert any other weight loss regime) about how they're going to maintain their weight when they finish?

Not sure 🤔 maybe 13 stone, i’m short too

Have you weighed yourself? I was 13st 5 and a size 14. I’m 5ft 2 on a good day.

I got down to 10.12 last year, starting middle of January and people commented around the first stone lost. With MJ that was about 6 weeks. I stopped around summer time and have started again 3 weeks ago. I started this year at 12st 2, I’m now 11st 6 and feel slimmer again. My face is less bloated and my clothes feel better. I hope I won’t need too long to be in the 10’s again. I do suggest you get an accurate set of scales if you want to know your weight loss.

GoutFromDarkChocolate · 25/01/2026 10:53

At size 18, and short, you would definitely be slim at size 10uk. If we say it takes you an average of.3 months to lose a dress size, that is a year. Jabs are generally not fast weightloss but they are hopefully consistent weightloss which adds up.
A year sounds long but the time will pass whether you diet or not and you will feel and look better at size 16, 14 and 12 it's not like you will stay size 18 for a whole year.

Bubble567 · 25/01/2026 10:58

I'm 5ft tall and I've lost 3.5 stone since May 2025 (slow looser even on the jab), I didn't drop a full dress size until I lost 3 stone and that's when people started to notice. Everyone is different, looses at different rates and body adjusts differently. I was a size 18-20 and now I'm a comfortable size 16,hoping to loose another 1.5 stone and get down to a size 14 soon.

Sorry you have lost 2.5kg in just over a week? That can't be right / healthy?

Thats pretty normal in first week of weightloss. People lose up to around 10/11lb in that as its a lot of water retention. It always slows down significantly after that.

SexyFrenchDepression · 25/01/2026 11:04

If you're short and around 13st I would say that you will feel slim in around 3st (depends on how short you are i guess). Like others have said usually when you go down a dress size people notice, so maybe 2 stone?

Its so individual though, can depend where you carry it.

I was a size 16-18 when I started the jabs in May. I’m now a size 12 and have been for about 3 months (still on the jabs but seem to have plateaued but I’m ok with that atm) so it took me about 5 months

I've changed my habits but probably not enough, I haven't introduced exercise yet as I just hate doing it but trying to walk a bit more. I'm with a nutritionist who has helped me a lot, she says not to calorie count as it can become obsessive and needs to be sustainable in the future, I now just focus on protein foods, then veg, then carbs, it's even down to what order you eat your food on the plate. Start with the protein, then the veg then the carbs, by the time you get a get to the carbs you can't fit much of it in! Once I've reached goal weight I intend to work back down the doses and I think I will then stay on a low dose but stretch it out to taking it every 10 days as I still want to keep some of the control it gives me and takes away sugar cravings/urge to snack. It's the same as a smoker having nicotine patches or gum to help them through difficult times.

GoutFromDarkChocolate · 25/01/2026 11:28

I don't know why people are obsesses with what happens later, everybody knows the jabs are for life and any diet in the world including weight loss surgery will have you regain if you don't change your eating forever. What is so difficult to understand? All methods fail if you return to eating like before, big revelation (!)

Thats right, you never ever ever ever (I could go on) hear people banging on about this about slimming world or WW or other groups or clubs or systems

Comedycook · 25/01/2026 12:25

I started in may last year...I weighed 14 stone 5lbs at 5'3". I used to say I was a size 16 but looking back I was more like a size 18. I currently weigh exactly 11 stone and wear a size 14. I look much slimmer but I wouldn't describe myself as thin...im still overweight. First week I lost half a stone...now the weight loss is a lot slower, which suits me. Id like to lose another 10lbs or so.

Hannalucinda · 25/01/2026 16:16

Just to add - it is not a magic jab. You still need to put work in - i.e moving more, making healthier choices in what you eat.
It helps to reduce cravings, appetite and food noise but you still have to put work in!
I've been on the jab nearly 8 weeks lost just over a stone. I can definitely feel and see the difference.

That's only 5 pounds isn't it? Completely normal for week 1 of any healthy eating plan as you lose a lot of water in your first week. I lost 9 pounds (4kg) in my first week of MJ.

I find this question bizarre. You could ask the same question about anyone starting any diet/healthy eating plan / exercise plan.

If you stop and go back to old ways then you gain the weight back.

mumofsevenfluffs · 25/01/2026 20:14

babyproblems · 24/01/2026 22:17

It might be that your problem isn’t ’food noise’ per se but actually not eating a nutritionally balanced diet or eating at regular intervals / often enough for your digestive system to function properly. There’s no way you can have a healthy diet or properly functioning metabolic system on one meal a day. Everyone is different so maybe your situation is not one of excessive food noise

I would agree with that. My mobility issues mean I can’t stand to cook stuff from scratch so a lot of what I eat is processed food and we all know how bad that is. I try to eat as best as I can but it does fall short

bridgetreilly · 25/01/2026 20:16

YABU to post here instead of the huge and active WLI board where you’ll get all the info and experience you could ever want.

Based on the research, in general people regain weight when they stop taking the drugs. I accept that I will likely be taking maintanance dosages for a long as I wish to maintain weight loss.

mustardrarebit · 25/01/2026 21:43

I started on Halloween at 83kg/155cm (yes, I'm very short). By Christmas I was 74kg and wearing a size smaller. Now 71kg and smaller size is getting a bit loose. On wegovy. Briefly went up to second dose but side effects were rubbish and I had no appetite at all, so back on lowest dose. I combine it with Shake That Weight 800/1000 cals depending on appetite.

I think I'm a similar size to the OP. I don't use stones, but google says I've lost 1.89 stone (12kg) in 3 months. I noticed dropping a dress size within 6ish weeks. I suppose it's one benefit of being short. I look like I've gained a stone with menstrual bloating, but weight loss shows pretty quickly too.

I noticed my own weightloss quickly as I can tell with my clothes but it took best part of 2 stone for anyone to comment. My starting weight was around 12 stone, BMI 28. I was under BMI 25 before anyone noticed. I was at least a dress size smaller by then. Probably 1.5-2 sizes as I was squeezing into stuff before.

I wonder if people do notice before but wait to comment till they are sure.

I dont feel like I look slim until I am around 22/23 BMI. I dont carry any weight well as am a small build. Others feel (and look) slim around BMI 27.

Ahh ok that makes sense.

You obviously didn't read that the thread is about WLI.

What does that matter? Weight loss is weight loss. It doesn’t matter how you lose it, the effect is the same.
