To think we should get three “weather passes” a year

Slightly tongue in cheek and inspired by how disgusting this weather is, but I’d love three days a year where this weather means I could just stay in bed.

I’m fed up of being damp and cold!

I AM! I was just very grumpy about having to leave the house in weather that feels like -3 and driving rain and freezing winds that are ruining my skin. Still here.

Sorry, OP, I wasn't getting at you personally! It's just a general apathetic attitude towards work which concerns me.

Being ground to the bone, more and more expected of you with wages that barely match inflation, working just to survive with very little left over at the end of the month. I can see why people would be apathetic. The bosses certainly don’t give one jot about us.

Where DS works they get four “wellbeing” paid days off a year they can take at very short notice. I think some places they are called “duvet days”

I like the idea. It could be argued that we could already set aside a few holiday days for that, but realistically people prioritise childcare or other ‘serious’ reasons to take days off so having a ‘personal day’ category would make it guilt-free.

I used to let my children have the occasional day off school for no reason other than they wanted one. I expect my “banished from Mumsnet” owl to arrive shortly.

I could see some issues for smaller firms, if several from the same team asked for the same duvet day at 7am …
I’m working in Higher Ed, so less needed for me, as we get quite a lot of leave over minimum (generally I have a few days left to carry forward rather than running out, but I know others have much more limited leave)
