has anyone applied for the mobility part only my daughter gets the high rate care until 2032
she turned 5 last august her school have written reports for her to support her claim for mobility none of her care needs have changed since her last award can i just fill in the mobility part and leave the care part seems it’s not changed
on the form it does ask what you’re applying for and i’ve just ticked mobility only “ as her care needs remain the same” but i’m now worried incase they lower the care part confused what to do i find it stupid to fill the whole form in when he care needs remain the same x

Yes, you can put ‘care needs remain the same’ and fill in the mobility part in more detail. If she’s on higher rate, she should get it easily.

Shauna2866 · 21/01/2026 07:41

@Chestnutmarenutjob brilliant thank you i just feel it’s very pointless filling it all in when she already get high rate care and nothing has changed
i thought they maybe funny but sure if i put in the care part nothing has changed they may be okay xx

All the DLA groups advise to fill out the whole form again.

WanderlustMom · 21/01/2026 07:49

If it’s not a renewal and it’s simply a change of circumstances to apply for mobility then you’re fine to just fill in the mobility section :)

Kirbert2 · 21/01/2026 07:53

Even with a COC, I believe they look over the whole award again so I would fill it in to be on the safe side.

Ohdearwhatnow4 · 21/01/2026 08:45

I would personally call them, or if you have original forms just admend the mobility part ( obviously only valid if done online)

TheFairyCaravan · 21/01/2026 08:49

They can and do look at the whole award again when you do a change of circumstances and there is the potential for the care component to be reduced.

Avantiagain · 21/01/2026 08:54

I filled it all out again and they awarded the mobility component until 10 and extended the care component to match.

Jamesblonde2 · 21/01/2026 09:20

Full stops?

Full stops?

How is this at all helpful ?
Its a forum not an English lesson 🙄🙄

Ohthatsabitshit · 21/01/2026 09:24

If you ask them they will provide you with a copy of your original form, I believe. Just copy it across and add the changes.

OfDragonsDeep · 21/01/2026 09:28

It’s advised to fill in the whole thing again as theyll
look at it all.

Low rate mobility is fairly straightforward, but higher rate mobility requires a lot more needs and evidence.

There are some good Facebook groups that give advice on this.

datgyalb · 21/01/2026 09:31

Hi you can just do mobility part but the whole claim could get looked at my son was on mrc no mobility as was under 5 when awarded they looked at it all gave hrc lrm

Shauna2866 · 21/01/2026 11:31

i’ve just spoken to dla and they’ve said to just fill the mobility part in only as
none of her care needs have changed and there is box on the form to tick to say what you are wanting to them to look at
so i’ll just go with that it seems pointless to fill it all in again when nothing has changed . x

im
confused what to do now as some are saying you need to fill the whole form in and some saying no dla said to just fill the mobility part in but i am worried incase the case manager decides to take the care part away completely
