Well today it’s Martin Lewis, from 7.15, which is alright, love my Martin Lewis

but otherwise it’s an hour of the news and then deal or no deal - on again - for no good reason??

Isn’t a large majority of soap viewership parents that will likely be putting kids to bed between 7-8?

i dunno, I thought it was to avoid clashing with Eastenders but tbh, imo you’re losing viewers at 8.30

I put dd to bed at half 7 and used to watch emmerdale waiting for her to sleep (she is autistic so doesn’t go down in her own bed in silence, it’s next to me with the soaps on low)

Do people even watch TV in 'real time' now? Surely with streaming, you can watch TV shows, whatever they may be, at whatever time you like. That's the beauty of smart TVs and subscription channels. You just pick whatever you like when you like

It does seem like ITV have given up by putting the soaps on at 8-9 when traditionally they would show proper adult programming.

Do people ever watch "live" tv nowadays? most people just watch everything on catch-up, and have no idea of the TV schedule, don't they?

I don't watch regular tv, I have too much Netflix etc to even try to keep up

At a guess, ITV perhaps think they will get slightly bigger viewing if they don't clash with Eastenders or The One Show.
