Just don’t watch it. I never watch it and I’m very happy

Ditto!

@Ahhhblissful do you have endless money and a protected personal supply of all resources in the world? Because if the answer to either of those questions is no, you need to give a toss. People who say "I don't follow politics" are about to realise that politics follows them.

Forgot to quote you in my above comment.
Why worry why add to worries when we can just live.

Change your news sources.

Definitely helps to only look at the positives- I think the main stream media just delight in doom, gloom, hysteria inducing headlines and hyperbole!!!

I don't know anything about why the Beckhams/Ramsays/Peatys are in the news, or indeed who precisely the latter two being discussed are. It's pretty easy to avoid celebrity news if your're not interested in that.

Isinglass20 · 21/01/2026 19:23

Isn’t this the issue that since WW2 this and other countries have relied on the US instead of looking at the politics relating to all the wars listed in another posts and worked towards independence from the US.
Now we’re paying literally with a massive increase in taxes to pay for spending on defence and disentangling our military technology from the US.
Trump is clearly mad but we’re going to have to manage his madness and not bury our heads and hope it all goes away.

JAA17 · 21/01/2026 20:44

Do not worry about the news. Its only there to keep you in constant fear and pretend our leaders (of all political colours) are important and our only hope.

I have not watched the news for over a decade. Its all trash. I am happier for it.

If you want to hear the important stories of the day, ask your cat. Does she want pilchard or chicken flavoured munchies? That is the important story of the day.

Call me crazy, but given the fact that Trump is about to declare war with Europe, I think it's worth knowing about how that's going to impact each and every one of us in very real and scary ways.

You can relax now. The war’s off.

There was a bbc news presenter in the 90s or 00s who was mocked roundly for complaining he only over got to read out miserable news and why couldn’t he have more stories about cats being rescued from trees etc. Forget who it was but it seems positively quaint now.
