to hate fedex?

I bought an incubator last week that couldn't be delivered direct to me here in Jersey, so arranged for it to go to a friends house in essex, then to be picked up (by dhl) to come here.

It didn't turn up on the day we were assured it would be, and when the seller of the incubator checked, Fedex told him it had been delivered to the address on the paperwork. My friend checked his entire house, garden, asked neighbours and nothing. After some emails to and from the seller, it transpired fedex HADN'T delivered the parcel, but hadn't found the address and marked it wrongly.

Few more emails later and delivery is rebooked for a few days later, meaning I had to rebook DHL for pickup.

The incubator doesn't arrive again, this time fedex are claiming they can't find the address, and no-one at the address is giving directions and if no-one co-operates, the parcel will be returned to sender. My friend and his mother have both spoken to fedex at this point and can't believe what fedex have done.

Fedex are apparently re-delivering today, but I have my doubts. DHL on the other hand, so far, I can't fault - they have been helpful every step of the way and were happy to rearrange pickup around fedex and their cock ups

have had problems with fedex. They are thoroughly unhelpful.

Did they give you the consignment note number?

DHL are always great when we use them.
I've never used fedex.

I had the number but it wouldn't let me track it my end. The seller had to.

Its finally been delivered - a fedex van pulled up at my friends house and asked for his neighbour - my parcel wasn't even on that truck. My mate rang the depot and it was on monday's truck.. he kicked up a stink for me and the depot manager ended up bringing it personally. Its now safely out of fedex's hands and DHL should be picking it up any time now.

What a palaver!!!

All courier companies have moments when they are crap. Use fedex alot at work and they are great, never had a lost delivery in 2 years but found DHL hopeless, in fact we call them Deliveries Hopelessly Lost/Late. TBH though I think at times they can all be as bad as each other, a lot depends on the local depots and drivers. Its often a disaster when sub-contracted drivers are used, whoever the orginal courier company is, lost deliveries are a weekly occurance for us at work. This sounds like the driver made a simple mistake of ticking the wrong box (i.e delivered instead of address not found). Annoying, frustrating but a simple mistake and one which is very hard to get to the bottom of when your screen tells you its been delivered.

Not unreasonable to be annoyed but unreasonable to think its only fedex who this happens to!
