Woodland/ wildlife holiday recommendations

I am turning 30 in September and would like to book a little family staycation for me, my husband, my then 4 month old and pooch. I’d love to book somewhere woodland with wildlife close by to the lodge/home such as badgers, pond/lake life and foxes. Ideally I’m looking for somewhere close to north east of England that is reasonable in price and things to do nearby such as pottery painting, national trust and family tourist places.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated ☺️

Well, you’ve mentioned the dreaded word “staycation” so no doubt you’ll be ripped to shreds. I’ll assume you mean because it’s a uk holiday then you can’t simply call it a holiday, rather than days out from home.

How about Carlisle and surrounds? Talkin tarn, hadrians wall, Vindolanda, plenty of woodland and an rspb reserve. Greenview lodges have animals on site, donkeys etc.

Or Kielder for stargazing
