Do you delete people off Facebook you don’t talk to

Personally I don’t

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 16/01/2026 19:13

I don’t add/accept people that I don’t have a solid relationship with.

YourFirmCoralBiscuit · 16/01/2026 19:15

I dont delete them but I dont connect with anyone on Facebook unless I have an actual relationship with them in real life. I find it very strange when people have like 3000 "friends" and yet post very personal photos or updates. I am far too private for that and I think it's risky and not sensible to post private things to everyone and their dog.

PurpleChick2 · 16/01/2026 19:16

Yes I do. If I haven’t seen or speak to someone in years, and I’m not likely to either.

July2026mumma · 16/01/2026 19:19

Yes I do yearly or whenever I can remember to clear outs. I don’t have many people on fb but I certainly do not want people who I went to school with knowing what me and my kids are up to now

wordywitch · 16/01/2026 19:20

Yep, have regular culls. Though I hardly use Facebook these days so haven’t felt the need to cull anyone in awhile.

Edited

Yes, especially when they're posting photos of their children.

Op, the fixation you have on this man deleting you is unhealthy.

Mumdiva99 · 16/01/2026 19:22

Yes. I post personal photos so am conscious of who is seeing them. I also delete people I do talk to who stop posting.

ComtesseDeSpair · 16/01/2026 19:24

No. It’s just another admin task I’d have to add to the list. I rarely post anyway and when I do it’s never anything particularly personal. If Samantha I went to university with sees that I got cute new pet ducks or am offering my disused air fryer to anybody who wants it, she’s welcome.

JWhipple · 16/01/2026 19:26

Yes I delete people. Why should we all stay friends forever just in case we want to do some weird stalking on them but not actually speak to them.

Whoever it is just delete them. Otherwise they potentially have access to a lot of your personal information and can build up an unhealthy fixation on you that won't ever translate into anything in the real world.

No I just don’t like being called a predator when people delete people for mutiple reasons.

Ohhhthedrama · 16/01/2026 20:08

Yes, if I don't interact with them regularly I just delete them. If someone I don't know that well like a kids friends parent or a new work colleague Friend requests me to I feel awkward refusing. I'll accept them,. have a quick nosey at their page then quietly delete them and hope they don't notice.

PetPeevert · 16/01/2026 20:13

Please do share the like to the post you are referring to 😆

So you’ve been called a predator and have been deleted from someone’s fb…

Best to just move on?

Are you the poster who was deleted by the man you’d messaged with years ago, never met, and haven’t been in touch with for years? I doubt he’s deleted you because he thinks you’re a predator because you were a couple of years older than him when you first began messaging as teenagers, he’s deleted you because there’s been no contact for years, and he very probably couldn’t even remember who you are or why you were on his friends list. It’s not that deep. Some people never bother deleting contacts, some people do a cull every so often.

Yep

AnonSugar · 16/01/2026 20:25

Yeah I do. Usually people I added in my teens and have never spoken to. I barely have any friends on FB 😆

Tulcan · 16/01/2026 20:37

There was no pleasing you on your other thread though.

People said that they did delete people they didn’t interact with any more and you wouldn’t accept that because you were once good friends who communicated daily.

People said they did ‘culls’ and you said he had gone from over a hundred friends to twenty eight and you wonder why he didn’t delete you sooner.

People say it’s creepy and you say people are being and you say that you are not a sexual person but also that ‘it’ was instigated by him.

Ohhhthedrama · 16/01/2026 21:04

Oh I see there's quite the back story.

Shouldisell · 17/01/2026 05:53

I used to, now I don’t bother because I don’t post anything, I don’t add anybody or accept any new requests and have almost just deleted my account completely… but there are community groups, selling pages, local business/council pages that I still want to access so I still have it.

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 17/01/2026 05:56

OP, why are you so fixated on this person? It’s not healthy.

Make some new, real friends.

sashaymashay · 17/01/2026 05:59

Do people still use Facebook?

I thought it was obsolete

Heyhelga · 17/01/2026 06:17

I just deleted Facebook altogether about two years ago. My Facebook news feed in the end seemed to be clogged with clickbait news articles whereas I'd have to search on friends profiles for any updates which seemed to not make my news feed. I much prefer Instagram now as it feels you can control your news feed better but yep my account is private and I only accept requests off close friends and family. No school friends from 20 years ago or former work colleagues who I've not seen since etc.

EleanorReally · 17/01/2026 06:20

not really

AhBiscuits · 17/01/2026 06:23

I use the Birthday test. When I get a notification that it's their Birthday, if I don't feel inclined to wish them happy birthday then I delete them.
