I already have composite bonding on my top lateral incisors as they were a little short. Excellent dentist and they have lasted six years and still going strong. Dentist has emigrated
Chipped bottom one of my central incisors at Christmas so saw new dentist - bonding recommended and waiting (ages)for appointment. However saw another dentist different practice in interim (son had to cancel his appointment short notice so I took the slot for second opinion).
The dentist did a 3D scan of my teeth and said he wouldn’t recommend composite bonding unless my bite was better aligned first as they would just chip/ wear away. I then got a quote for Invisalign and whitening in the region of five thousand pounds and bonding to ten(!) teeth for another thousand.
I have the money, but I’m more concerned to understand why such extreme treatment is necessary. My teeth are straight and look good - I just have a slight chip in one of my front teeth. I’m worried about all the bonding. My main concern is my dental health, not cosmetics.
Without knowing any more than this, does anyone think the advice sounds plausible or should I seek another opinion? And what questions should I ask this or another dentist? Anyone?
