Is this stingy of me

Very small problem. My friend gave me my 60th birthday presents in a very nice gift box. Her 60th is coming up. Would it be stingy of me to use the same gift box back to her? She could reuse it again. It's more environmentally friendly to reuse, & it's the presents inside that matter more.

I mean I wouldn't mind if someone did that to me but some people might be bothered by it, you know your friend best. If in any doubt just use it for a different friend.

I’d just reuse it in a different person. Bonus is that they’ll probably think you bought it 😁

I would absolutely reuse the beautiful box but not to the person who gave me it the first time.

Nah. Seems stingy to me. It sounds like she went to some trouble for your birthday and maybe thought you could use the box as a “keepsake”? Treat her with the same thought.

By all means re use it but don’t give it back to her

I reuse all gift bags/boxes and would struggle to remember if I was giving a specific one back to the person who initially gave it to me. But as you can remember I would probably not use it - unless you want to end up doing what my friend and I do which is use the same gift bag for each other every birthday and have done for years 😂 we can’t remember who bought the bag or when we realised we were using the same bag each time but now it is very deliberate even though it has started to look a bit battered 🤣

Me and my best friend have a “birthday bag” that we put each other’s presents in each birthday. I love getting the birthday bag! As your friend bought the fancy box she’d probably like to have it back and it will probably make her smile and it can be your new birthday tradition!

It's not really the "done thing" unless you have that sort of arrangement with your friend. As in, she regularly does similar things. But definitely re-use it for someone else.

I would re-use it but I would make a cheerful point of saying to her that I was doing it and why like @Summersongroses' arrangement with her friend.
