Travel from Wembley Stadium to Stratford...or somewhere else?

Hi

I hope it's okay to ask a quick question. I've just booked concert tickets to take my kids at Wembley Stadium and am looking for a cheap hotel. Stratford premier inn is a good price and looks doable on the tube. Is that a good option late at night? It's convenient for travel home the next day but I don't want a journey that's a massive PITA late at night.

Thank you in advance

Hi. So in theory, yes as the Jubilee Line will get you there directly. It'll take just under an hour once you are on it.

But please factor in the queues for the tube when the gig kicks out. Social media will show you the massive queues down Wembley Way, so it could take over an hour to get on the train too.

If you're happy it might take you two - three hours to get there, absolutely gorgeous for it.

mynameiscalypso · 15/01/2026 08:15

It’s quite easy to do - just hop on the Jubilee Line and sit on it for 45 mins or so. You’re going all the way across London but it’s not really difficult, just long. You could probably speed it up by switching to the Elizabeth Line at Bond Street but I’m not sure it would be worth it. Loads of people will be getting on the Jubilee Line so it will be fine from that perspective.

Swiftie1878 · 15/01/2026 08:17

That will take you HOURS to get to after the gig.
You need to stay closer to Wembley, preferably walkable, or it’ll be a very late night.

pogglewump · 15/01/2026 08:17

interesting and thank you both for replying so quickly. 2-3 hours though? I'm happy to sit on the tube for 45 mins but 2-3 hours is a lot when they will be tired

thanks @Swiftie1878
Is Kings Cross any better? Or can you suggest anything?

The queues to get on public transport are indeed long, but you’ll pretty much have to brave them anyway wherever you decide to stay. We were pretty impressed at how well they were organised after Taylor Swift.

Stratford’s a long way, but pretty easy.

pogglewump · 15/01/2026 08:20

@TeaAndTrumpet thank you. It sounds like it will be a pain wherever I go. I'm looking for soemwhere walkable now

There’s a Premier Inn right next to the stadium. Might already be full though!

pogglewump · 15/01/2026 08:24

I've stayed at the Kings X one a few times and it's handy for the next day. The issue is ease of getting to it after the concert. Do you think it will be much easier than geting to Stratford? It costs £100 more...

Forget the next day. The next day will be easy enough from anywhere. The important thing is ease in huge crowds after the gig.
Stay close to Wembley.

SellFridges · 15/01/2026 08:26

Getting out of Wembley is fine. It’s extremely well organised, and it’s never taken us more than 90m to get back to our hotel in central London. We’ve done it about ten times over the years. We always stay right to the end and use the loo before leaving.

Ryce · 15/01/2026 08:27

Leave the gig 10-15 mins before the end and race to Wembley tube. Otherwise it could take you an hour to walk from the stadium to the tube due to the crowd.

pogglewump · 15/01/2026 08:27

sound advice, thank you x

Wembley is not bad to leave if you’re organised. After Taylor Swift we left at the end not early, and went straight to Wembley Stadium station instead as it’s quieter. Straight onto a train to Marylebone in central where we could change onto the tube.

TheFlis · 15/01/2026 08:31

Leave during the last song, walk fast to the tube and know which platform you need to head to and you will be fine.

pogglewump · 15/01/2026 08:31

That's interesting, do you think the train will be better than the tube?

OP posts:
SellFridges · 15/01/2026 08:31

Why on earth would you pay (often) hundreds of pounds for a ticket, be all excited, and leave 2-3 songs before the end just to save a bit of time getting out? You only get one life, enjoy it, don’t rush it.

pogglewump · 15/01/2026 08:32

@Ryce thanks but we don't really want to leave before the end

This: can take over an hour to get out of the gig/onto the tube

what are hotel
prices like in Wembley itself?

SellFridges · 15/01/2026 08:33

Train queue is usually faster than the tube queue, but there are fewer trains so if you miss one it can be a wait.

Chelsea26 · 15/01/2026 08:33

I was just coming on to mention Wembley Stadium Station. It’s on the children line and less well known and much closer than Wembley Park. As PP says you can go into Marylebone and change or loo for hotels in South Harrow (Northolt Park Station), South Ruislip or West Ruislip which is going the other way and normally even quieter.
