Travel from Wembley Stadium to Stratford...or somewhere else?

Hi

I hope it's okay to ask a quick question. I've just booked concert tickets to take my kids at Wembley Stadium and am looking for a cheap hotel. Stratford premier inn is a good price and looks doable on the tube. Is that a good option late at night? It's convenient for travel home the next day but I don't want a journey that's a massive PITA late at night.

Thank you in advance

I was just coming on to mention Wembley Stadium Station. It’s on the children line and less well known and much closer than Wembley Park. As PP says you can go into Marylebone and change or loo for hotels in South Harrow (Northolt Park Station), South Ruislip or West Ruislip which is going the other way and normally even quieter.

demareradreams · 15/01/2026 08:34

Looking at Google Maps, KX Premier Inn would take 25mins less time to get to than Stratford. Personally I’d rather the extra journey time than an extra £100! As long as you expect and make peace with the fact it takes quite a while to get to the station after the gig, you’ll be fine. The queue / crowds are really well controlled and actually have a really lovely atmosphere. Often there’s singing!

I would stay nearer Wembley if you can. Stratford can get a little bit rough late at night away from the westfields shopping centre area (which is generally safe even late evening).

pogglewump · 15/01/2026 08:34

This is all extremely helpful and I'm glad I asked. I'm not looking at walking-distance Wembley hotels but am mindful of walking miles with kids late at night when they are at their worst ;-)

Sorry for multiple posts - no idea what happened there!

Depending on where you are going the next day you could look at travelling out of London instead of into the city or across to Stratford.

From Wembley Central mainline station you can get a train to Watford Junction (22 mins - £2.30) or even Milton Keynes Central (60 mins). There are plenty of hotels close to the stations in both towns.

Chataigne · 15/01/2026 08:36

I feel safe walking from the tube /train at Stratford to the Premier Inn at night. Just keep your phone in your pocket and it would be fine.

I went to the eras tour at wembley and dua lipa last year, the queues to leave are horrible! We tried to book an Uber to get us to our hotel after the eras tour but there was literally none around (somehow???). I'm assuming the demand was too high, so we ended up walking about 25 minutes.

pogglewump · 15/01/2026 08:38

@Havanananana we are going to Kent. Wembley travelodge is fully booked. I think i might just book Kings Cross and hope for the best

@ItsameLuigi I do not look forward to this!

Native Londoner who has done many a concert at Wembley and the trick is to leave just as the last song is coming on. Means you can get through to the tube in minutes instead of hours.

This is great advice for you OP. Absolutely do not stay in Stratford, it will take you hours. The areas mentioned all decent areas as well to stay in and Wembley stadium station quieter than Wembley Park after a concert.

Last question, I promise, but is it a good idea to just book Marylebone Travelodge

I really wouldn’t do Stratford after a gig/ it’ll feel like an eternity away. I have to do Waterloo to Stratford sometimes and I find that enough of a pain. It is well connected but obviously feels a lot further out than a more central location.

Swiftie1878 · 15/01/2026 08:26

Forget the next day. The next day will be easy enough from anywhere. The important thing is ease in huge crowds after the gig.
Stay close to Wembley.

Agree with this. We've been in queues out of Wembley many times and it can take hours to even get on a tube. The closer you can get to Wembley the better.

pogglewump · 15/01/2026 08:54

So it's either Marylebone or Kings Cross. Cost the same so it's about ease now

Just an option for you OP if you wanted something closer (might be fully booked though).

Sounds a great idea. I was at Wembley in July for Lana del Rey, we were staying in Victoria with friends and the easiest way to get back was go to Wembley stadium station, overland to Marylebone and then tube back into London. We saw the whole concert. Are you driving into London, that's the only thing,.does it have parking? I'd stay 2 nights and make a weekend in London with the kids!

pogglewump · 15/01/2026 09:03

thanks @Mapletreelane
Getting the train into London and can't afford 2 nights. I'll book in Marylebone I think

OP posts:
Elclr · 15/01/2026 09:03

I'd go for Marylebone of the two personally as the trains out of Wembley Central tend to be less busy.

pogglewump · 15/01/2026 09:04

May I say a huge thank you to all of you for your help! I've got to leave for work now but you have been so helpful

Yes Marylebone makes sense - about 15mins from Wembley Stadium Station - you’ll be grand.

as @Mapletreelane says there’ll be limited (and expensive) parking but if that’s not a problem then go for it.

If you need parking I’d reiterate my Harrow/Ruislip suggestion.

MrsJigsaw · 15/01/2026 09:10

Do you drive? Last few times we've been to a concert at Wembley, we've used one of the 'park on my drive' websites.
5 minute walk back to the car and we're on our way home (or you could drive to a hotel further out if home is too far)
