I really just wanted to say a massive thanks to everyone. It's been nearly a month and since everyone's fantastic suggestions there has been 0 contact with the girl, my son has had his fourth therapy session- there's been lots of discussion on healthy relationships and picking partners and having boundaries and looking into his own behaviours and it's been brilliant.

I have my child back, he's fully back in the room, back to saving money, back out with friends all over Christmas, back to excelling at his work.

For those who commented me and his dad were harsh in our second update- he has since thanked us for this as he was so deep in he needed an ultimatum to get out and it's given him a bit of a confidence boost to know we have his back in all situations.

So honestly thanks for everyone who contributed suggestions, I really am very grateful.

So pleased to see this update. He didn't have the ability to extricate himself from the situation, and you helped him with excellent parenting. Wonderful to have him back to himself.

Well done OP - that was really terrifying and I’m glad that you’ve got your son back on a positive path.

Read your previous OP and my heart went out to you and your family. So happy it is now resolved for you and that your son is getting the help he needs not only from his loving caring family but also from therapy [I'm usually a bit meh about that tbh] BUT if it helps turn a corner and gets results in the long term then that's really good.

I often wonder what happens on MN, so updates are fab, especially ones as happy as this one. Nice one OP! So glad all worked out and you are all in a much better place.

I hadn't seen your previous threads but I just read through your posts and I'm so happy your son is free of his abuser. It's crazy how much power someone can hold over a person they've never even met.

Thanks for updating - so many don't bother but I think that's due to the news not being good.

It could have so gone the wrong way and him back to her. But because of the exact appropriate interaction from you and DP with him, the result will be longlasting.

Now he knows healthy from unhealthy relationships from young, he will choose any future gfs for the right reasons.
