Would you waste gp's time with a bad cough

I had a bad cold before Xmas but can't remember if I had a bad cough. Then dh got it last week & ended up on antibiotics for his cough.
Now I have had it back again since Thuraday. Starting to feel better re muscle aches & runny nose. Cough seems very dry but sometimes violent & constant
Dh says go to docs as I had covid & pneuonia back in the height of the pandemic.
I think I'll just be wasting his time & he won't tell me anything more than I can read on nhs website. Would you waste his time with this? I have an appointment late this afternoon.

No. You're supposed to check with a gp if a cough lasts longer than 3 weeks.

Lots of fluids, sleep and increase your fruit/veg intake

I had a violent cough once and I went to the GP because I was coughing so much I thought I was going to crack a rib! They gave me the blue inhaler which really helped when it was uncontrollable. I'd go if you're struggling to cope with it.

You had a cough before Christmas which self resolved. You now have another cough, likely another, different viral illness

There's good advice on self management linked below, and also when to see a GP. Get well soon

No. I'm into my 3rd week of a nasty cough, along with the common cold, and I'd rather chop off my own arm than waste GP time.
I mean what do you think the GP can do? Answer: nothing. If the cough bothers you, buy some over the counter stuff to soothe the symptoms.
Otherwise, just do what the GP would tell you, and wait for it to get better (in "doctor speak", it's called 'therapeutic use of time').
