A&E Tonight, GP Tomorrow or Woman Up?

Just curious to see what most people would do. Don't want to waste anyone's time.

I'm anaemic, taking daily iron supplement, but the reason for the anaemia is ongoing. Last blood test about 6 weeks ago.

I'm under a consultant, but no recourse to message them. Expecting biopsy results in about ten days, when hopefully treatment plan will be come up with. Consultant will be in touch then.

Last week, have felt more tired and weak. Am pretty much on bed rest due to issue, plus anaemia. Tonight while going to loo, almost fainted. Made it back to bed, but couple of hours later, heart still pounding and feel dizzy. Feel quite unwell. However didn't eat much today, just didn't want it, so that could be part of it. Have now forced small snack in.

Not sure what I should do. Go to A&E tonight? Emergency GP appointment tomorrow if I can get one? Or am I just being a total drama queen and should just woman up until results are in, in ten days?

Fabulous news that they’ve patched you up enough to get home! Hopefully the meds will keep you on trucking till they manage to sort out the cause of the anaemia.

sorry it sounds like you have had a tough time as a in patient.

A&E and they will check bloods and can and will organise iron or bloods if needed in an emergency I’ve had to have it done many times in a similar situation. If you’re dizzy and really struggling don’t wait. I left mine over Xmas new year as I thought it was a bug I’d only had a transfusion on the 12/12 turns out by time I went on the 2/1 due to feeling light headed and palpitations and not being able to walk across the room
my hb was 54 and I had to have 3 bags of emergency blood a bag of iron and 2 nights in hospital. Please get checked. I got a total telling off for not listening to my body!

I had haemoglobin of 40. 4 bags of blood and an iron infusion and in hospital 3 days too. Was awful.

And again, you know it’s not an emergency, how?

Are you there taking vitals? Speaking directly with the OP?

No?

Then you cannot possibly know.
So tired of watching ambers give out ‘it’s not an emergency’ advice when in actual fact they cannot know.

It’s dangerous.

You're right! I got sent to a and e fof ferritin of 1 low iron and haemoglobin 40. and the emergency on call doctor was going to ring me a ambulance but said I will get relative to drive me.

It could be an emergency. Without medical advice and a full medical history noone on here can say it isn't an emergency. The reason for the anemia could be internal bleeding that has increased suddenly today. Could be a hemorrhage of some type. Noone here can advise it isn't an emergency. She should ring 111 to get medical advice.

I got sent to a and e for iron deficiency anaemia by OOH Dr. You are right.

Hope you got sorted OP. I have Benn through similar. Ferritin 1. Haemoglobin 40. 4 units transfused and iron infusion. 3 days hospital.

It Sucks and because I left it to long my bloods are all over the shop still. Mt ferritin hasn’t been above 6 since new year and I’m on 4 weekly transfusions that are hard work to organise.

My bloods are messed up after transfusion all over the place. Meh! Very tired too and don't know why I ask doctor and all they say is oh its a transfusion reaction. Platelets have gone up a bit too.
