DH has been home late all this week and can be home for 5pm but has been coming in at 7-7.30 after a jaunt to the pub.

DS and DD have ben at home todat with a tummy bug and since about 2pm have both perked up considerably and are arguing and running around like mad things.

Emailed DH earlier to ask him to be on time tonight as don't want to be waiting around to eat again and the kids are driving me mad.

He said he would be on time.

6.05,still no sign of him.

Do I ring?
Usually a waste of time as he leaves his phone in his briefcase in the car .

Have been counting down the minutes since 5pm.

brucelovesfrumpygrumpy · 12/06/2008 18:12

He's being a tosser. Its rude. I'd leave the house as soon as he gets in....... til 11pm ish.

silvercrown · 12/06/2008 18:12

oh dear, know how you feel as DH doesn't get home until about 6.30-7pm every night and the kids are always driving me mad by then. Give him a good ear bashing when he gets in!! Unless he's coming from London on the Liv St line - there's a train been derailed or something.

Left this mesage on another of the threads!!!! This one is the most popular though

pagwatch · 12/06/2008 18:15

actually DH never gets home before 7.30 ( but work not pub).
But why on earth are you waiting to eat?
If he is not there let him get himself something when he gets in.

Love2bake · 12/06/2008 18:15

OMG I would not want to be your DH tonight!!!!

Seriously though, yes of course he should ring, how bloody rude of him.

paperroses · 12/06/2008 18:16

DS is know playing with the stick that opens the blinds and chasing DD round the room.

The blinds that cost £200!!!!

Get me outta here springs to mind.

DH will come in and say
"oh is mummy in a mood, have you been driving her mad?

That and you being late again!!!!!

Get your keys ready and when he walks through the door go straight out - leave hi with feeding the kids and himself get yourself a nice mag and go and sit in the pub next to the fire - that would scare the sdhit out of my DH who is currently late because he is walking the 45 minutes from the next village because there has been a train derailment!

No answer from his phone.

Am sat here on mumsnet ignoring the chaos around me to keep me from going mad.

No train to catch so he can't use that excuse.

If he has a few he will be in a merry mood which means having 3 children instead of 2.
He will be getting the children all worked up
and I will be quietly crying in the corner.

put the children to bed.
have dinner quietly on your own with a glass of wine. and when he comes in go to your nicest local with a newspaper or a book.

If you just accept it and bitch on here ( in the nicest possible way) why should he stop doing it? It is working out fine in his world

paperroses · 12/06/2008 18:38

unfortunatly the childen would'nt go to bed and are waiting to see daddy.

They just play me up and come back downstairs again and I can't handle them.

He is taking the piss and has been for a long time and yes is my fault for letting him get away with it.

Can't have a go when he gets in in front of the children then when they are asleep the moment has passed and am too tired/passed caring to go over it.

write it down write it down write it down. Hand it to him calmly when the children have gone to bed - then go to the pub, inconsiderate twunt.

A friend of mine was telling me that her DH does a similar thing. I was . My DP is often home late but never at the pub, i would flip out.
