Overtheatlantic · 10/01/2026 14:02

Your cat?

pinkdelight · 10/01/2026 14:04

For ME as in YOU or ME the condition? Where do idiots mittens come into it?

MorrisonsPlatter · 10/01/2026 14:04

Myalgic encephalomyelitis?

RaininSummer · 10/01/2026 14:05

If you mean a string so you don't lose your gloves or mittens, I suggest either sewing a cord or crochet chain to each cuff and threading through the arms of your coat

Fangisnotacoward · 10/01/2026 14:05

Do you mean like the line of wool mums used to attach to mittens and thread through your coat arms when you were a child so you didnt lose them?

IceStationZebra · 10/01/2026 14:05

Sew some elastic on them?

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 10/01/2026 14:05

I still have a pair of gloves on elastic for when I’m out n about for work and take them on and off a lot.

Or mitten clips?

Mitten clips - Black

Classic mitten clips that help to hold mittens in place.

Think the OP is referring to the string that goes, or used to go, up the arms and round the back of the neck and down the other arm in toddlers coats to keep them from being lost. Never heard them called idiot before, though

But what has that got to do with lanyards for ME? Lanyards are already on a string and it doesn't need to go down any sleeves. Intrigued...

Blueuggboots · 10/01/2026 15:37

She means a string (or lanyard which is a rope used to secure something?!) to secure her own gloves in her coat, like a child would have but for me rather than for a child.* *

PashaMinaMio · 10/01/2026 15:39

Go to a haberdashery or similar shop. Maybe Amazon. Check supermarket too.
Buy elastic. Usually comes wound around a card.
Measure length between one sleeve end, across the back, looped through coat loop thingy and down other sleeve adding a bit extra.

Cut ‘lastic and sew each end to gloves.
Im sure by now, if you do that, you’ll know what to do next.

Branleuse · 10/01/2026 15:40

Mitten clips! I've got some from mountain warehouse, but there's loads on amazon

GoodVibesHere · 10/01/2026 15:44

A lanyard like the ones people wear in an office?

Tulcan · 10/01/2026 15:46

I’ve got mittens on elastic through a coat like a child.

Tulcan · 10/01/2026 15:46

Just ordinary elastic from the haberdashery.

Just stitch them to a cord long enough to thread through both sleeves and across your back. Brilliant idea, why shouldn't adults do this?

Overthebow · 10/01/2026 15:59

You could just get a long piece of string to attach to them and feed through your coat sleeves, like the one you get for toddlers.

LemaxObsessive · 10/01/2026 16:18

Have you been drinking, OP?

GardyLou · 10/01/2026 16:19

I didn't know mitten clips were a thing, I need some!

Carnation25 · 10/01/2026 17:35

May be something like these glove wrist straps I bought on Vinted for my grandsons skiing trip.
