So if dd takes hers to eat tonight she can't use her £20 one to pay towards her and friends bill of d+say £30. As it won't allow for part payment.
Whats on the card has to cover the full amount. Which will be just dd meal of say 15.00 then we are left with a fiver to spend exactly somewhere!

Jobs4kids · 08/02/2026 09:16

Unlike most gift vouchers, they are used like a debit card. I guess in a restaurant, she could use her voucher as £20 towards the meal then she/her friend use another card to pay the balance like you would in normal circumstances but that's if the restaurant actually can accept the card in the first place which in my experience they mostly can't (tried using in Pizza Express without success despite being one of the listed places). It's more of a problem when buying online as most websites won't let you split a payment over 2 cards and, again, if the card will actually go through which I've found to be very hit & miss! Can't understand why you can't use like a voucher and you simply type in the voucher code when paying like normal gift cards!

I read it as not being able to use it like that....

'One4All cannot be used as part payment. Customers must have the full transaction amount on their One4All card to redeem'

So her friend would have to order and pay seperately for her meal. We really wanted to use the full amount on the card to get rid of it! Both meals would have come to say 30 and there was 20 on the card.

She didn't use it in the end as she was worried doing it at the till I will have to try and get rid of it somehow as it's close to the date. Maybe I will go into m and s and buy something!

they’re awful. Avoid at all costs. My daughter worked in a shop which accepted these and she always dread them being used!

VillaOfReducedCircumstances · 08/02/2026 12:20

@Sunshineandrainbow, I think you can use these to buy an M&S gift card online, and then you can use that much more easily in the way that you’d expect any gift card to work.

SIimPickins · 08/02/2026 12:29

I was given one for Christmas, used it in a shop last week… no trouble

Doris86 · 08/02/2026 12:45

I really don’t understand the point of these. You might give a gift voucher for M&S for example because you want them to treat themselves to some clothes. If you’re giving them a voucher you can spend anywhere you might as well give cash, which is a lot easier to spend.

That would be amazing if I could. I will give it a try! Thanks

They are awful. I've been given two. The problem is buying things online. You have to use the exact amount or less. You can't use 2 payment methods. Both times, it's been really limiting and ends up with a balance left over which ends up staying on the card as by the time you pay for postage, it's hard to find something for the exact amount left. They must be making a packet from those small amounts left on cards. It's an absolute scam imo

Doris86 · 17/02/2026 08:55

I’ve finally managed to spend mine!

Following advice on another forum I went in store to WH Smith / TG Jones and used it to buy an Amazon gift card. Then bought what I wanted on Amazon.

Ridiculous things, I hope I never get given another. However if I do at least I know what to do now.

That's a great tip too.

I bought m and s gift card with mine online. Least it lasts a lot longer now.

LadyBrendaLast · 17/02/2026 16:39

Unbelievably difficult to use.. hope no-one gives me one again.

I have never seen a website where you can split payment for an order, across two payment methods before.

Well what I mean is normally with a voucher you can use it and if it comes to more, you can use your debit card for the difference. One for all does not allow that. You have to use it for the exact amount or less.

I was hoping I’d find a thread about these bloody awful gift cards.

DH has these quite regularly as little incentives at work, £10 here, £20 there.

About 6 months ago now, I added three cards via their app and was successful in adding to my apple wallet. However, now I’m thinking about using them, I can’t log on to the app (it’s currently not working for me) to find out what each card is worth and it doesn’t give me that info when I click on the card in my apple wallet, so I’ve no clue. I wish I’d not added them to my wallet now! Have another 4 cards ranging in value from £10 to £20, so might just try and buy a gift card online with them!

One4all must make a pretty profit from DH employers, as with my experience, there must be a large amount of employees who can’t suss out how to redeem the fecking things!

If anyone else knows how I find out the value on each card in my apple wallet, could you please share.

JennyWrenSeven · 21/02/2026 11:28

Right, I deleted the app, reinstalled, made a new password so thankfully I now know how much is on each card. £10, £20 and £18.20! I presume they’ve deducted £1.80 for the last card, due to inactivity!

Get them spent, don't let them take anymore money.

The poster that suggested buying an m and s gifts card was fab. I have done that and m &s gift card is now valid till 2030 so no panic to spend.

Pancakeorcrepe · 21/02/2026 12:42

They are absolutely diabolical

gototogo · 21/02/2026 12:50

Not had an issue but as with all gift cards I use them straight away

louderthan · 21/02/2026 18:28

I was given one against my will last year, found a bag I wanted in TKMaxx which was £5 more than the value of the card. You can’t add to the balance of the one4all card so I bought a gift card then paid with that and paid the extra £5 with a debit card. A big faff.

TroysMammy · 21/02/2026 20:46

I used my £50 balance card in Spots Direct for £48 the other day. No problem. I will either use the £2 left on it to buy something in The Range or just use my debit card for something more at the till.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/02/2026 22:54

It’s weird some find it hassle to spend and others easy

but ive taken note and will not be buying go teachers anymore and will give amazon vouchers

BlackCoffeeAndSugar · 21/02/2026 22:57

I hate them. So annoying

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 21/02/2026 22:59

I agree they’re a complete ballache to use.

I think the company is a bit of a scam really, they must make loads of money from interest and people who give up trying to use them.

That won’t work unfortunately, you’ll have to buy something for £2 or less. You can’t add to the balance or split payments like you can with most gift cards. That’s the main problem with them.
