Cleaner etiquette?

thought on this one please? Hired cleaner yesterday and prior to clean, she said she’d use own products. When I went into the kitchen, I saw that the cleaner was using my products which she got from the sink drawer herself. She also found an air freshener spray in there which she used and then took away with her… she also used my dish cloth to clean and then opened a new pack she found in same drawer and left it outside as she binned the other one.

I was a bit confused by this as the products she used were mine and not as agreed. I also would have liked her to ask about spray as I had another one open etc. Am I being too pernickety about all this? DH is too chill for opinion on this 😂 I am thinking going forward, I can leave a bucket of products out and tell her that she can use the products in the bucket and to put them back before leaving?

thank you!! Sorry - cleaner noobie here!!!

My cleaner uses all her own products, it’s advertised as part of her business.
I would ask your cleaner about this, using your products (and then effectively stealing one!) is a red flag to me.

(A red flag as if she takes something of yours when you are in the house, what could she take if you weren’t there)

I wouldn't be happy with someone opening drawers and cupboards without asking. My cleaner always brings her own stuff, and if she runs out or needs something unusual and wants to use mine, she asks.

If you both had agreed she’d use her own products, why didn’t you say something when you saw she was using yours ?

I always prefer our cleaner to use our products, cloths, etc. I have a cleaning supply press that contains various cloths, toilet cleaner, glass spray, furniture polish kitchen, bathroom spray and floor cleaning stuff, etc. which our cleaner has access to. Any time I’ve had a new cleaner, I’ve had a quick chat about what products to use where. Eg, use this on tiled floors, use this one wooden.

You’re paying for a service, you need to talk to your cleaner about any issues that inevitably will crop up from time to time.

I wasn’t sure she was using my products until I found one missing and the house smelled of my Christmas scented floor cleaner. I thought maybe she was using the same ones at first (very commonly used products like elbow grease..). Also I am very awkward so I wasn’t sure how to bring this up.

Sounds like I need to source a new cleaner
