To be really f'd off with my GP? (long, sorry)

Quick update. Bare with me.
Right, late April, found out I was pg again, really happy, went to GP, left sample, result in few days later, positive. Dr said no need to come in again, she'll get all booking done and what not.
Beginning of May (about 6weeks gone) started bleeding heavily and lossing clots, was away for B/H so went drs on tuesday, told her I'd been bleeding, she asked me if I was relieved. I asked if I needed a scan or some sort of examination to make sure everything was gone and she said no.
So all this 6 weeks ago.
Yesterday, did another test, positive. Back at drs this morning, she asked who confimed m/c, I said no one as been treated awful at hospital before with previous m/c so didn't bother going and came to her as soon as I could. I reminded her that i asked if I should be checked and that she said no.
Now she wants to find out if his is new pg, or if it's a continuation, that maybe it survived or I "just" lost a twin. She told ME to contact EPU and book my own appointment for today and take her paperwork.
When I called EPU said it wasn't their department I needed(?) and should call the ultrasound dep't, did that and they booked me for June 24th.
Called GP back as she said get scanned today, and when I told her what happened, she said, well wait then. What the F**K?
Is it ok to wait or is she just a lazycow and can't be arsed to do her job and chase it herslf? I'm so angry!!!

Oh, and she hadn't made those original bookings, when I told her I was m/cing and told her to cancel all appointments and letters etc, she said she hadn't made any coz she wanted to see me again 1st coz of m/c history

Is there another gp you could go and see and explain what has been happening??

i have no advice or anything but do feel that it is not acceptable to be treated liek that.

I'd have to change surgeries as the only other 1 there is her husband, but suppose it couldn't hurt. He only does 1 surgery a week though and that not every week so might take longer to see him than just wait for scan

I think you need another GP, I really do. You can't be expected to wait another two weeks - she should have phoned EPAU for you, and its most def their job to scan someone who had a presumed mc, and may not have completed it/etc.

Can you ring the midwifes, and perhaps cry a bit to get them to sort it out. No one could be more unsympathetic surely ?

If that doesn't work, do you have the money for a private scan ? I paid 75 quid for a viability scan with a consultant, rather than waiting for the hospital to deign to see me

lizandlulu, thank you. It is not knowing. Am I 12 weeks or 4 weeks? Am I even pg? Will I lose this 1 too?
Not including this 1, been pg 4 times and got 1 child

Hi cmotdibbler, I haven't got money for private scan, but good idea about trying midwives. Maybe I'll go back drs tomorrow and make it clear this isn't good enough and get her to call EPAU herself, if people agree with me

Could you go to A&E and say you are worried or even say you have been bleeding again and that the GP advised you get a scan straight away?
If not then def go back to the GP and kick up a fuss. It really isnt on for her to do nothinh!

Thanx 2point4kids. I'm not normally like this, I don't normally have any worries about making a fuss on things that aren't right, but I've done it so often with that dr.

Go back and complain politely that you have not been treated properly and insist on a scan. See the practice manager if need be. A similiar thing happended to me when I thought I may have miscarried. The male dr i saw said come back in a few days and was quite dismissive. I left the surgery then went back later to complain. was seen by a lady dr who immediately booked me in for a scan the next day to see whether it was or not and whether it was complete as sometimes bits can get left behind in which case I would need a d& c to clear the womb. I had miscarried but did not need a d&c as it turned out - but I still had to go back to have another test later on in the week at the hospital to check my hcg levels were reducing as sometimes they dont for some reason.

My GP is the practise manager, but think I'll go back tomorrow and calmly state that I'm not entirely happy.
My dad says if I'm feeling ok it wouldn't hurt to wait. He's right in 1 sense, but if she'd done her job in 1st place instead of assuming things I wouldn't be in this position.

She should have referred you to the on call gynae SHO to be seen at the hospital and scanned. See another GP please. I was recently in a similiar situation and was sent right up. I am surprised EPU blew you off like they did.

Yeas ago I worked on a gynae ward and we were forever having women sent to our treatment room for assessment by the gynae doc. They usually came in from home, referred by their GP as they were in the early stages of pregnancy with bleeding and or pain etc.

Thank you lbb. It was a nightmare at the time. the only thankful thing was that I was scanned the next day otherwise I would never have know or worse still it may have not been complete and it ended up more seriously ill. I do think sometimes the medical profession are a bit blase when it comes to pregnacy. WOuld it not be better peace of mind to be seen sooner rather than later especially with your medical history. Also if you wait til the 24th will you have missed the deadline for the blood test if you do turn out to be 12 weeks at the moment?

Hi Vian. I was a bit suprised too! I wasn't rude or anything, but was a bit wound up that I was doing what I thought dr should have been doing. I'll call back tomoz and take a different approach, maybe just ask their advice on what I should do. That must be their dep't.

Magic, that's exactly my thought. What if regardless of situ now, something got left behind and caused a serious infection?

The only thing that stopped me making a stink today is that I think it's more likely to be a new pg and therefore won't see a heartbeat or anything anyway.

I'm glad you went to see your GP, but a bit about the outcome.

FWIW, I tend to ring EPAU while I have the patient in the room with me to book a scan so that 1. They know I have done it and 2. we both know when the scan will be so that I can arrange to see them back.

I suggest you go back and explain the situation again and ask if the GP can intervene to get it brought forward. You could even fib a bit and say that you've had a few cramps/spotting- that will usually get you scanned faster (I swear I see loads of people who fib about this in order to get their scans sooner- the cynic in me, eh!).

Hi emma, thanx for your reply, it not the 1st time my GP has been like this. When my test results came back from my pg before last, at the 2nd appointment she couldn't remember what the test was for, so she clearly hadn't put it in my notes.

Just made an appointment to see the husband dr later so see what he says.

Went to A&E yesterday and told them what's been happening. The assessment nurse laughed when I told her that i booked my own scan!
Anyway, they did a urine test, positive for pregnancy, the blood tests didn't come back after an hour but they have given me my notes and told me to ring EPU tomorrow and tell them I've also been reffereed by A&E. So that's good, at least we'll find out wtf is going on.
Might have t make scan tuesday as quite busy tomoz and don't think I can get out of appointments.....

Got scanned today. EPU saw me with the A&E refferral.
Knew pg, 5 weeks fingers crossed it stays ok as have had 3 m/c.
We so pleased.
