Young girls, un-consenting women and now this

@eliothiggins.bsky.social‬
Just seen Grok putting the body of the victim of the ICE shooting in Minneapolis into a bikini. Digital corpse desecration now available to the public.

With it photo- mocking up women as naked, no I wouldn’t be. But, as I don’t use Twitter or X then people need to do as they like.

Have you stopped men doing it on the internet generally?

This. Why on earth is anyone up in arms about this when porn is so widely available. Start by banning Pornhub. Grok putting bikinis on celebs is distasteful but in the grand scheme of the internet is absolutely tame.

I’ve never been on X/Twitter, but I don’t see how this is different from any other form of image manipulation, from the famous photo from newly Soviet Russia that deleted Nicholai Yezhov to a a collage of different body parts to a good illustration. This was already possible with photoshop. It’s just quicker and easier with AI. The result isn’t real. You aren’t looking at what Starmer or anyone else really looks like in a bikini.

It’s different for several reasons; some of what Grok can generate is CSAM, and therefore illegal in the UK. So the result is illegal to have.

The other issue is generation and distribution of the image which is possibly the issue with Grok. The analogy is not a camera or a tool. The tool is not yours, and it’s functionality that it can generate CSAM. You could remove that easily.

So who is “making” the image, who holds it, and who is the owner? If legally it is Grok, then the UK government can definitely ban it and remove access.

It is a criminal offence to make sexualised pictures of children in the UK. They do not have to be of real children either. The image can be a total fantasy. It can still be illegal.

Maaate · 11/01/2026 16:36

So are we no longer doing the porn is empowering women, sex work is work, no kink shaming thing anymore?

Because this is where that thinking has gotten us - but a lot of women who spoke up about the harms of "sex positivity" were shut down as prudes and pearl clutchers by the progressive left.

SumUp · 11/01/2026 16:42

It was a useful platform when it was Twitter but it became progressively more echo chamber-like as regular users abandoned it.

It is a clever tool but I hate how it is being used. Governments need to be legally upholding people’s rights to not have their image used in this without their express consent, and cracking down hard on the perpetrators sexual abuse image generation.

TooBigForMyBoots · 11/01/2026 16:44

No @Maaate. Seems we're doing the Porn and Deepfakes are OK thing, because it's Grok and X.Hmm

Grok now banned in Indonesia and Malaysia due to this issue

It’s more a berate women on mumsnet because it’s easy pickings over campaigning men directly.

Surely the pp has resolved this already, so now it’s women being berated about something else men do.

It's crazy. We've been told for years offensive stuff on the internet can't be banned but apparently it can! Hamas and isis execution videos? Lovely carry on. Grok putting bikinis on celebs and some folk are fuming.

It's just bullshit. If you believe some people, anyone who posts on MN is a far-right ultra conservative TERF in the pay of the American Christian right 🤷‍♀️

Whereas 99% of posters on any social media or message board are just there browsing and reading posts that interest them and don't have any dealings with the dodgy stuff being posted by the other 1%

Yep. It’s nonsense. The internet is full of crap and worse and mn is one site that is moderated and female led. And it’s here pp choose to have a go at posters.

Gloriia · 11/01/2026 17:11

Surely the answer is to get grok and other ai modified so clothes cannot be removed. It isn't rocket science is it. To ban a platform when the Internet is brimming with horrific crap just seems such an over reaction.

I quite liked James Blunt's post 'grok please give me a Freddy Mercury moustache and red lipstick' and it did Grin

Maaate · 11/01/2026 17:12

And let's be frank, there was a lot of dodgy stuff when it was Twitter - artists posting lolicon, hentai and similar porn stuff.

Why am i not surprised by your POV ?

You already know that Grok was used to put Renee Good in a bikini... you said were appalled at this but now its "Distasteful"

Grok can do a whole lot more than put a celeb in a Bikini, though how would know how they feel about this? clearly doesn't matter to you.

A Newscaster on Sky this morning was extremely upset about what had happened to her.

Grok is enabling child pornography.. all ok on the 'right.

Musk has refused point blank to back down from this.... he is breaking UK law.

Yes that is actually the answer. This is how other platforms manage it.

The issue is otherwise not; Twitter has dodgy material on it, but Twitter holds and generates illegal material. The first is a matter of taste. The second is potentially criminal.

EasternStandard · 11/01/2026 17:15

Of course banning it is because it’s not left. That’s the aim.

Removing women’s voices from Iran too. It’s not surprising some are wanting that outcome.

As I said the answer is to modify grok.

Nobody has suggested enabling child abuse < there's no such thing as child pornography> is ok.

I know only what you have repeatedly said about dead bodies, which tbh is offensive itself to keep repeating these descriptions. I've seen no such thing you should perhaps be more careful with who you follow.

That's exactly what governments and the public are asking for: a block on the porn programme and images to be taken off X.

But there are far worse things online? Reddit hosts porn and ai.

It just seems like it's purely because of Musk and as some flounced when he took over, they are loving stirring the pot. Look at this thread title, someone on BlueSky sharing grok crap!

So just because ", there are worse things out there" then this shouldn't be tackled?

Well consistency would ne nice, no? Rather than any excuse to get Musk.
