What are the small towels for?

In a holiday let, you usually get a big towel and a small towel arranged artfully at the foot of the bed. What to do you consider the small towel for/what do you call it?

You think it's less weird it's a towel for drying your hair than a personalised hand towel?

If I’m sharing a room with DH then one of the small towels is a hand towel for both of us and the other becomes my hair towel - he doesn’t need one.

The small towel is for drying your hands after washing them after going to the toilet.

How come you have your own hand towels? Presumably the hands you’re drying are clean.

But then, in our house we just grab any old towel. Again, our bodies are clean so I don’t see the problem (unless I’m on my period of course!).

More to the point, wtf was the hamster doing in a hotel or air B&b? (If at home, I’d imagine a hamster would have a flannel allocated for use as her towel).

I agree, I need one large bath towel and two smaller towels - one for my hair and one to be the hand towel in the bathroom. Luckily my DH who I’m always on holiday with, does not need one to dry his hair, so I always allocate his one to be the hand towel as we are fine to share a hand towel.

I think that places just leave a large and small towel and figure people will divide them up as they like, given that you only need one of the small ones to be a hand towel, and not everyone needs a hair towel (eg the v short hair people).

I do like it when they leave an extra dedicated hand towel in the bathroom though. And I hate it when they forget to leave a bathmat and the whole system has to go out the window.

Plus. I have a definitely large head and longish hair, but manage fine with a hand towel size for hair wrapping. Only if it’s one of those comically puny guest towel mini ones do I have trouble.

No it's the bit where you can't think to yourself 'oh I'll take this small towel to the bathroom and use it for my hands' .

If the bath towel was placed in the hotel bedroom rather than in the bathroom would you have a similar issue? i.e. you wouldn't think to take it to the bathroom?

For goodness sake, it's a jokey thread! I personally use them for my hair, which means there is no hand towel, which is why I take my own. If there was one towel each and then one in the hand towel holder thing in the bathroom, I'd still take my own!

Hair or hand towel. When I have guests at my home over Christmas I gave two small hands and one large towel per guest thinking they need the small towel for hair and another for hands. They welcome to use our hand towel on the bathroom but just thought nice thing to do. All three towels were used
