To think Xmas Day seems like a different planet ?

Xmas Day was only a fortnight ago but now seems like not so much a long time ago but altogether a different planet.

Anyone agree?

Yeh, the quicker it’s over with, the more I like it.

GalaxyJam · 08/01/2026 14:45

It feels like it was about 2 weeks ago to me.

DappledThings · 08/01/2026 14:47

Not really. We only took the decorations down on Twelfth Night (and the outside ones not till Epiphany). Tree is still inside because I can't be bothered putting it outside for the green collection till next week when it will actually be taken away.

nam3c4ang3 · 08/01/2026 14:48

shall we start planning for this year 😂

Same, our tree has been put outside as it’s being collected by the farmer at the weekend, but everything else still needs to go up in the loft and we still have a mini tree in the dining room and some fairy lights up so it’s still feeling quite Christmassy here!

Snap!

This is one of those threads that will be full of mumsnetters giving it “Dear God no, of course not! Christmas has just finished in our house. Our tree only came down on Twinkletide and the nativity scene will remain up until Twizzlemarch. Why have you taken your decorations down before Candleforth OP?”

FlyingApple · 08/01/2026 15:11

Well we feel Christmassy until the 5th so not really.

Primaris · 08/01/2026 15:17

I only took my decorations down on Tuesday but I find once schools go back, all the magic vanishes and it suddenly feels like very long ago.

I am enjoying how very, very far away next Christmas feels though.

QuietLifeNoDrama · 08/01/2026 15:24

Our decorations only came down yesterday but I agree Christmas Day feels like it was such a long time ago.

DinoLil · 08/01/2026 15:30

I was on my own, went to bed at 6pm and didn't bother getting up the next day, so...

Or those who think Christmas Day feels like it was about 2 weeks ago. Because it was.

Inevergotthatfar · 08/01/2026 15:35

Glad it's over frankly

Terriblytwee · 08/01/2026 15:41

Due to a family emergency ours are still up and I’m unexpectedly happy about that. Think I might actually go to Candlemas with the tree and lights to see how we like it.

We have only recently taken the decorations/tree down and I'm still putting stuff away. Also we still have Christmas treats left to eat. So it doesn't seem long ago to me

Theyreeatingthedogs · 08/01/2026 21:22

It does feel like ages ago but it is only 351 days until the next one!!!

Gowlett · 08/01/2026 21:27

Christmas occurs in its own little bubble, doesn’t it?
That week or so is well known to be a twilight zone.

TheLyricalDanceFlap · 08/01/2026 21:30

Laughing my head off at twinkletide and Twizzlemarch

Tickingcrocodile · 08/01/2026 21:33

I was just saying this earlier. We only took the decorations down on Sunday but now it seems like Christmas was months ago. Doesn't help that I had a stressful week at work.
