I dreamt I was 17 again last night

1995…kissing one of the guys I liked back then, it was so vivid.
Didn’t want to get out of my cosy bed into reality!

The 90’s were like a dream we can’t return to

Hahahaha this happened to me once a few years ago.

I dreamed of this night out I was having one night, I was missing an absolute RIDE of a guy at the bus stop - classy - and the bus pulled up. My friends were shouting at us to hurry up and get on the bus. The driver shut the doors after me in his face and pointed at the bus behind. I had forgotten all about it until the dream.

I paused as he was waving to me to step off too but my friends wouldn't let me.

The dream was magical and so heartbreaking. Imagine feeling like that again just because someone was goodlooking? 😂

I quite often dream that I'm back in secondary school or uni with old friends and crushes.
The dreams are very vivid and I'm sad for a while when I wake up. It's probably the closest I'll ever come to being a time traveller!

I often dream about my teen years. Last night I had a dream that it was my 21st birthday party and my old school friends were there. People I haven’t spoken to for decades.

I recently got sudden contact from the first boy I ever fell madly in love with, saying how he misses me and thinks about me often. He ghosted me 20 years ago and shattered my heart into a million pieces, and I swore I'd never love anyone but him. I'm married with kids now and very happy, but for a few moments I almost got swept back into the memory of that phase of illogical, overpowering, impulsive infatuation and it felt almost romantic.

Then I realised that actually what's happened is he's almost 40 and the rockstar dreams he had when we were teenagers haven't panned out. His long term relationship has ended and he's bored and lonely, and thought that maybe I might still be the doormat I was at 17. It only took a few short messages for me to see that this man who I put on a pedestal and possibly even harboured some feelings for all this time is someone that 36 yo me wouldn't glance at twice, even if I was single. I don't know what I ever saw in him.

So whilst I did think I missed being 17, now it's been revealed how utterly stupid I was and how little respect I had for myself, I don't.

My dad died when I was 16, which is a very, very long time ago now.

Once in a while I have a (completely mundane) dream about my dad, and whenever it happens I revert to being a mid-teenager again - dream-logic apparently being that if my dad is alive, I must still be younger than 16.

In the dreams, I'm always back in the same house we lived in then, and if I notice all this I feel a complete lack of agency in my life - accepting with a sinking feeling that I'm fated to re-live the same five decades that have passed since.
