Grateful for friends

I have a friend who just fills me with joy when I see her. She is reliable, supportive and generally fun to be around. I am approaching 40 and I realised I have never really told her how lucky I am to have her. Or any of my friends really. Is this strange to say?

I went through a tough stage in my life and my friends were so supportive. One friend in particular went above and beyond and I don’t think I really thanked her looking back.

Led me to wonder if anyone else openly ‘loving’ to their friends?

I do. Me and my best mates say it all the time how lucky we are to have each other.
Ive been to enough funerals sadly to now wear my heart on my sleeve and say thank you, I appreciate you etc a lot!

I tell my friends I love and adore them all the time. I am so incredibly grateful for them. They are kind, funny and supportive. I much prefer them to my husband tbh 😁

When I was younger I never said anything nice to my friends, almost the opposite… banter and taking the piss etc. now I’m older I make sure my friends know how much I love and appreciate them. I’m not sure when or why it changed. I guess with the shit life throws at you as you get older and you realise friends are not just for the fun times but also there to help you through the shit and vice versa

Thanks for the inspiration. I sent a random message to my one particular friend this morning. She said I had made her day. Definitely agree to let people know before it’s too late!

my best friend yes. we tell each other we love each other and how grateful we are for one another all the time. I've been thinking about friendships recently and I think all of the others are a bit superficial. but maybe that's because I'm so lucky with my one.

I have just lost my greatest friend of over 30 years. My one comfort is the last time.e I spoke to her I told her I loved her.

Yes, but I tailor how I show my feelings to the person. Some of my friends would be uncomfortable with too many words, so I take a show not tell approach.

Last year my BFF of 40 years made me a "galenvines day card" with a cross stitch embroidery telling me how much she values and loves me. It is my all time best possession. I recommend it.

I have some truly wonderful friends, who make up for my truly not wonderful family.

I tell some of them I love them, but I tell all of them how grateful I am to have them in my life. I try to show it too - actions often speak louder than words.

It’s really made me feel good today. Glad I posted!
