Er, no. People who see paedophiles everywhere are (unless they or someone close to them has been affected by abuse too recently or too severely to have much perspective on the situation) hysterical herd animals who are believing everything the tabloids tell them and not using their brains.
If someone was, say, robbed by a member of a particular ethnic group, would they be 'entitled' to make statements to the effect that all members of that ethnic group are untrustworthy, probably muggers, shouldn't be allowed to walk the streets etc?

Yes, paedophiles and child abusers exist. But there isn't one lurking in every bush, and the danger from strangers is far smaller than the danger from family members and friends (paedo-spotters who see them everywhere are always wetting their pants over strangers and People On The Internet rather than keeping an eye on dodgy uncle bertie), nd the vast majority of people who are not paedophiles do not deserve to be accused of things, moved on, stared at or slandered because they are MEN on their own, or have coke-bottle glasses mended with elastoplast, or are minding their own business sitting on a park bench, just because someone doesn't know them.

my son has sn and i am alreadt anxious about his future as he looks 'odd' at times - worse he likes the swings etc and probably always will.

what i was unable to articulate clearly is. Believing that only someone who uses the word paedophile or highlights what they behaviour clearly see must paedophiles everywhere is just a narrow minded as someone saying that someone who waits near children playing or photographs them is a potential paedophile and therefore a risk. the truth is somewhere in the middle and it will vary from person to person what they thing constitues suspicious behaviour or behaviour that the police would consider worthy of being reported. I personally would question anyone who believes that just reading a newpaper article on the subject is going to give them all the facts and figures for either side of the argument. Newspapers are not altruistic converyors of news imo.

MFAT your last but one post actually confuses me more than your first one. Are you trying to argue for a distinction between 'paedophile' and 'child-abuser'? Are you saying that people should consider all the evidence before making accusations of paedophilia? If either of those represents your viewpoint then I kind of agree with you.
If, however, you are trying to argue that every hysterical buckethead who thinks that every stranger they ever see on the horizon must be after their PFB must be taken seriously (because they have INSTINCTS or PSYCHIC POWERS or something) then I think you may need a nice cup of tea and a sit down.

No there are not that many, of this type of person in the country for it to be somewhere in the middle. It has all got way out of control.

We all know though that car accidents unfortunately are more likely. More daughters are killed by their own boyfriends (driving accidents of boys/males between18-24) than children abducted.

mz partially - I am not explaining myself very well. Completely agree with your last statement about the bucketheads.
It seems to me whenever someone mentions paedophiles / suspicious behaviour they are automatically grouped with the over reacting bucketheads even if they only occaisionally harbour a question about someones motivaton / behaviour. It si just as much as an over reaction as as assuming that every person coming over the horizon is a peado. Charged and sentenced without a trial in both cases.

The truth is somewhere in middle. there are some dangerous people out there strangers and non strangers. the grey area is often when you should challenge and when you should allow the benefit of the doubt.
