its fine. Just remember to place your passport face down on the screen thing and hold there it for about 5-10 seconds whilst looking at the camera. We thought it was like tapping a credit card but it takes longer. Hope that makes sense. I’ve had a few sangrias

Did it last week and the queue was insane. The sooner we rejoin the EU the better.

I heard the staff are kind of on purpose horrible to British tourists too. Trying not to be negative before trip has even begun.

Imagine I turned up in one of those I didn't vote for this t-shirts (I didn't though!)

DH has an EU passport so I guess he will be doing check in (hoping I don't lose it and get deported in the queue)

We arrived at about 8pm. No queues at all , in fact the whole airport was really quiet. we are Irish passports so don’t know if that was a factor. Hope you have a brilliant holiday weather is lovely here. I’m singing now Smile

Are you flying with kids? If so they'll just direct you to the manned booths and you won't need to bother - took me 10 mins while everyone else waited.

We went through easily, early flight Boxing Day. Small queue but it moved quickly. We landed at 11.10 and were in our hotel by 12.00. Staff were helping people that needed help, they all seemed friendly.

Will cling to this - hopefully things have become smoother since October!

They are horrible to ALL tourist and it has nothing to do with Brexit (I have EU passport and had awful airport experiences in Tenerife for the last four years). Just at the airport though, once you get to your location, everyone is lovely.

You just have to "suffer" through the airport. As I said, people in resorts/towns are absolutely wonderful. I've had a flat in Tenerife which I only sold recently and spent two-three months every year there for the last 15 years. It's only after COVID and anti-tourism protests that I noticed a shift in airport staff attitudes.

P.S. they do have a reason. Tourism decimated islands' ecosystem, there is housing crisis and poor working conditions/pay as a result of excessive tourism. So I get them...sort of. Except that tourism is a major part of the economy there and I am not sure what's the Plan B protesters are proposing if we all go elsewhere. But that's another topic.. I am sure you will have a lovely time. Don't worry too much about it.

It's so weird to work at a flipping airport if you hate foreigners!!! Anyway will be brave as you suggest.

We went through it in December, we landed at a quiet time and it didn’t take long to go brought the check in including, scanning passport, photo and passports getting stamped. It does seem a bit bizarre that we scan passports as you arrive in the arrivals and then you scan them again before getting them stamped but that’s the way it is.

i find most spanish airport staff unpleasant however it’s worth it for the holiday.

last year one of the women was shouting at my daughter(she was 20 but looks much younger her) , STOP, STAY! She made her take her shoes off even although they were the same ones I had on and she let me though and then she swabbed her hands and pockets again yelling STAY, once swab was cleared she shouted GO! My dd was on the verge of tears as the woman was so aggressive and intimidating.

I knew there was a reason I turned to Portugal
