How much more ridiculous can it get with prison sentences?

Three teenagers killed a man between them.
One has to serve 16 years.

The other two get 47 and 42 months for manslaughter.

That will teach them wont it NOT.

What happened to joint enterprise?

How can someone's life only be worth 47 and 42 months, even without joint enterprise.

Whoever makes these guidelines and the Judge want to give their head a wobble.
We are a laughing stock in the UK.

Honestly I’ve been thinking about the whole only the state must have a monopoly on violence to be stable thing. I think it no longer does in the UK’s case. Sentencing seems often bewildering to me.

Aren't the prisons full to breaking point?

If there are no spaces - they can't put people in.

I was really shocked when I read that aswell . It really felt like the judge was saying that because he was an addict his life didn’t hold any value .

While I don’t disagree that it’s wrong that sentences are dependent on prison spaces, people always say “build more prisons”. But what people don’t get is who will actually work in them? The prison service is already massively understaffed. Will you work in one? Because you need staff if you’re going to build more prisons. That’s the issue.
