How old is your child and when did your UC claim start? Also what reason(s) did they give for the rejection?

Boymum27B · 18/02/2026 07:05

They’ve just repeated the 13 month rule for reported. Went to MR said no. Then they said they would send it to someone else who can ignore the time it’s taken to report and they also said no. Currently under a complaints process and tribunal I have got all information including SARS from police education social etc as proof hoping that’s enough. He’s now 8. UC accepted form in October 2025.

So are they currently just saying they’ll back date to the date you uploaded your form? Or no backdate what so ever?

Boymum27B · 18/02/2026 16:45

They only paid from the date they received the form no backdated payment.

Have you been claiming Uc since your child was born? As they can’t backdate prior to your Uc start date, but from what I’ve read online the 13m rule doesn’t count with NCC1 forms or disability payments. I would consider reaching out to your local MP and any services you have been under like women’s aid or something.

I have been claiming UC all that time. And I’ve done 2 mandatory reconsiderations and they both said that the 13 months has been exceeded so they won’t make any decisions. It’s gone to the MP and he made contact in December and is yet to have a response. I also raised an appeal with the tribunals in December. They sent a letter to confirm I have tried via MR which I returned with the evidence and no awaiting a response. Not having much luck here. I have done SARS requests across the board with social care police education doctors housing and benefits.

Have you any update on this yet? @Boymum27B

no back payment. Have had 2 mandatory reconsiderations- declined. Several complaints- no change. Local MP involved and contacted no change. Applied to tribunal on January and UC
