Hideous cold/flu thing?

I've had the most hideous cold since 27th December with no let up and some days like today it even feels like it's beginning to get worse again. Sore sinuses, so congested my nose is now raw I've blown it that much, SO DRAINED and even a bit nauseous. Back to work today and I can't take much more of this. Why is it not shifting? Just been taking regular over the counter cold/flu remedies but they do nothing. Does anyone else have this??

Yes. Then got a sinus infection and the hurt my back with the coughing. Great. Am trying to get back to work tomorrow as well. Good luck.

Most people I know have something at the moment, bad colds, flu, Covid, tonsillitis and norovirus. All have said it’s knocked them out for around 10 days. My adult DS had a bad cold (possibly flu) had antibiotics that didn’t do anything, had a chest X-ray which was clear, then tested positive for Covid and 2 months later he’s still not right and is having lung tests next week.

Definitely seems to be going around, DH had it from 22nd Dec, I thought I’d escaped it but started with symptoms on 29th. I’ve actually rang in sick today as I feel so crap but also don’t want to pass to others, hoping to go back on Wednesday. I’m NEVER off sick! It’s awful

Yes. There’s already a thread going which loads of us have been commenting on about how poorly we feel!! It’s awful and very long running. I’ve been ill since the 29th and have just had to come to bed as feeling rubbish again!

Yep been ill all Christmas and coldsores to top it off that were horrendous and painful

I'm a bit anxious about my sinuses!

I have had this since 21st. The sinus problems were the worst I can remember my face was literally pulsating. It is starting to let up now but I have completely lost my voice from all the coughing. Christmas/ New Year just completely passed me by. Get well soon OP.

Sorry to hear so many of you have also been suffering. Also a constant vile taste in my mouth.

Forgot to mention constant ringing in one ear and blowing out so much blood from my nose 🤢

My DGD (19) went down with this horrible flu virus on Boxing day and she's only just starting to feel remotely normal again. She had a raging temperature,sore throat,hacking cough and ached so much she could barely get out of bed. She didn't eat anything for 4 days and for the next 6 days very little. Her DM was really annoyed that she hadn't been allowed the free flu vaccination,despite having immunity issues. She tried in vain to find somewhere that she could get it by paying for it but everywhere had run out. Thankfully,she and DGD's dad didn't get it as they had both been vaccinated.

Why isn’t it shifting? Well if you go back to work before you are well you will find things drag on and you will be prone to catching the next bug that does the rounds

I know - too many jobs don’t do sick pay or are heavily understaffed but if you can - put yourself first

Yep, symptoms started Christmas Eve and only now starting to feel ok-ish. Had to get a second lot of antibiotics today though.
