To think it should be bigger news that Twitter is full of men making AI porn images

Of real women and of children? Clearly Musk seems to think this is a hilarious edgelord joke (it was no way 'an error' that this happened), but I think it should be a case for heavy sanctions against the platform.

Proper regulation of all platforms as publishers, equivalent to newspapers, is well overdue.

givemushypeasachance · 05/01/2026 14:56

A fair chunk of it seems to be people deliberately asking Grok to produce illegal/unethical content to draw attention to the fact that it's so dangerous. I saw someone with a lengthy thread of it that included a Grok-written "apology" for producing CSM. How some sort of legal authority hasn't intervened I don't know.

Echobelly · 05/01/2026 18:41

Apparently one US state, New Hampshire, I think, has legislated to make doing this a sexual offence, including being added to the sex offenders' register. I could get behind that, though the difficulty can be tracking down the actual people. I also wonder if some of the requests are actually coming from AI bots as well.

As I said on another thread, it is utterly disgusting and anyone still using Grok or X after the MechaHitler / white supremacy / child abuse and revenge porn content is complicit.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/01/2026 09:02

YABU to say this isn’t big news, it is - as it should be.
eg this is prominent in The Times today
https://www.thetimes.com/article/d4342ee4-a750-4b01-8d84-10819e810ed1?shareToken=3ade520634fec592786db683f2c32220

of course it’s not necessarily making the front page headline a it might otherwise because of Venezuela etc but it is being widely covered and discussed.

MPs urge boycott of Elon Musk’s X over Grok AI’s undressing

The call to end use of X for official government communication follows posts of digitally undressed women and children that may have broken UK law

Boycott twitter, don't buy tesla, avoid anything musk owns/involved with

Twitter is a cess pit of alt right, edgelords, bots, and porn. It's of no value to society anymore. I'd be delighted to see all companies and governments stop using it

Echobelly · 06/01/2026 14:28

I would love to see a government have the guts to just ban its use in their country. Trump and Musk will scream about totalitarianism but I think it's clear that Twitter has been a massive engine for social unrest, interests of billionaires, division, lies, corruption and bots from Russia and China (and frankly other countries too) stoking it all. I think there comes a point where you have to say it is doing far more harm than good. There used to be an argument for it with its flaws in terms of its ability to help organise more positive political movements, but it's not being used by that anymore. It's the poweful, not the less empowered driving it now.

That's a start

But I'd like to see them set an example. No public bodies using Twitter

Piggywaspushed · 06/01/2026 17:02

Apparently, two UK cabinet ministers have been targeted by this with Grok making bikini shots of them.

GoodBrew · 06/01/2026 17:09

I wonder if Elon would consider this a far more pressing matter if people asked Grok to make humiliating pornography of him? Perhaps featuring his (allegedly) mutilated penis from failed enlargement surgery. 🤔

SerendipityJane · 06/01/2026 17:18

If X was going to be dealt with, it would have happened by now.

People really need to accept it and move on.

Elon has enough money to sue anyone anywhere into the ground if he wanted.

The problems surrounding AI has been around since it started with in education, voice actors, screen/song writing and copyright infringement.

The call for AI to be regulated has been going on for some time.

I don't think we should accept the creation and dissemination of CSAM. Do you?

Edited

Well you have a choice.

Accept it, and move on.

or

Enable a government and world that can - and will - deal with it.

The former is easier than the latter.

And it's no use asking what I think. Because it doesn't matter. If what I thought ever mattered, we certainly would not be here.

This is where patronising me and saying "it will never happen" for nearly 3 decades gets you. Please don't act like it's a shock.

It should be big news but I do think the genie is out of the bottle and this will be normalised amongst many men going forwards, it already is. It might end up driven down into hidden forums or telegram groups but it will continue to exist and will affect almost all of us even if we wouldn't imagine it would. It will also extend to AI videos and virtual reality porn.

I don't know what the answer is but its happening already and here to stay. I am already removing all photos of myself from any social media and would advise others to do the same but you will still be at risk regardless.

Madelinebellpicturemegone · 06/01/2026 17:57

Facilitated by that nut Musk
Fingers crossed he misjudges his ketanine intake.

We can only hope he actually takes AI advice on his health

TheIncredibleBookEatingManchot · 06/01/2026 18:06

I think perhaps it isn't bigger news because it is so completely unsurprising.

It's vile and disgusting, but I think most of us know there are no limits to the depths some men will go.

WaryCrow · 08/01/2026 11:12

And are we just going to accept the ‘no limits to the vile and disgusting depths some men will go’?

For most of European history we have had movements and laws against it. America is turning that tide but there is no need for us here to follow.

It's not a question of "accepting" it. It's a question of overcoming the forces of capitalism that allow it to exist on X (in this case).

I remember in a debate in the 80s at sixth form, a lecturer pointed out that top shelf mags invariably carried adverts for cigarettes on the back.

If enough people just didn't use X in the consumer space (i.e. advertisers and companies became aware of the drop off) then it would be sorted before you know it.

FuckRealityBringMeABook · 08/01/2026 16:00

Grok has now generated multiple bikini pictures of the woman killed by ICE.

I am presuming for balance it has also generated some of Kirsti Noem ? I mean girls and guns is a well known fetish, and somehow I can see it being right up the street for users of X.
