to be upset as I only have 3 cards?

Its my Birthday today, and I have only had 3 cards (my mum, my nan and one from work).

I have been up since 4am.

AIBU to be in a grump?

It's only 6am! Are you likely to get more across the day? Do you send your friends cards on their birthdays, if so, surely some of them will reciprocate? How about your dcs, are they up yet?

I do with my friends but DS is only nearly 2 so he wont have got me one.

Im mostly in a grump cos DP hasnt got me a card, or said happy birthday.

This must be what its like to be a proper adult!

I think being up since 4am is always reasonable to be in a grump (me too, hence why I am here!) and birthdays can be pretty grumpy days anyway. Maybe it's a bit early to think "well, that's it" about your whole birthday, DP might do something later? If not, even more reason to do it yourself. I think as we get older birthdays do have a different resonance, so it's got to be about what we make it - make sure you treat yourself today even if it's to a magazine and a coffee

I'm going to do some shopping and having lunch with my mum so it should be nice!

I know that P wont bother doing anything he was up all night on Wow and will be in bed all day.

I have all week off work and DS will be at nursery today so it will be cool.

My mum gave me cards from DS and the cat!
She has no money so she knew she cant get me a present, but she does have a 2for1 for wagamama, so im going to treat her i think.
