Would you allow your garden to be dug up for a community scheme?

Im not sure I could, even though I would want to feel Im community minded (obviously not!)

Watching these garden make overs over the years, particularly the ones where they do a community project and usually for some reason involves having to ask nearby neighbours if they can access pipes or stuff under their property and they always say yes

Today was watching some garden rescue thing building a food bank up north somewhere and they basically need to ruin this womans garden, pull down the shed, fence, dig holes all over the garden and she says yes! I got anxious just watching

I turned over just as they realised its not just her garden they need to dig up either, they had to ask next door. So dont know the outcome, presumbly that neighbour said yes as well.

I think Time Team also used to do this.

What happens if the neighbour says no?

Would you say no?

Im not sure I could cope with the mess, intrusion and stress of it to be honest which would probably have me as a marked woman in the street!

It's not every day that one is introduced to a dilemma that one has never so much as thought of, let alone had to worry about.

And the great thing about this one is that even now - knowing that such a worry exists - I just can't get exercised about it. Not even on someone else's behalf.

It's not that I don't care. It's better than that. I simply can't imagine it ever being a problem.

This is the most fabulous start to the year! There are Things I Don't Have to Worry About! Marvelous!

Thank you so much, OP.

Well I dont want to dampen things, but the very programme that I was watching that others have referred to, the woman in a fetching summer dress, doorstopped by Knowles, thought exactly that, she was not expecting the Knowles, she wasnt prepared for it.

She had not been reading a thread that someone had helpfully started about something she thought was a non problem

So, she had no thinking time at all. Camera right in her face.

For Time Team or similar I would. I know that there are remains of 2 separate roman villas in our town, less than a mile away and we're less than 7 miles from the roman baths in the centre of Bath.
I'd also be happy for them to replace our rather patchy lawn!
We have a large public sewer (about 10in diameter) serving the school behind us under our garden so the water company could exercise their right of access to maintain it.

If Nick Knowles was part of the scheme, I would say no.

Anyone else, I would consider the plans.

I’ve met him IRL. Miserable twat!
